OJ got away with murder so I should go out and kill someone? That's about Grade 1 logic at best. Worst of all is how they're doing this for I would imagine $100 tops which makes it all the more pathetic.

the news media doesnt have to.. they run an ad supported model just like the people who registered those domains do. i see no difference..

not a valid comparison.

where is the outrage about the news channel headlines supported by advertising is what im saying. they've been going on about the same exact thing for almost 12 hours... are the donating all the extra cash they earned with advertising during that time?

Most reporters are scum, right up there with most lawyers -- doesn't mean we should all stoop to that level.

not a valid comparison.

AD I just stumbled upon.

Wow, that was fast.

You'll see all and everything about MJ within a month from now. But after it will be diluate and disapear so it's just the "buzz" from idiot people.:td:

People bidding on ebay, what a pity! Sure there are some NP members here that list name on ebay and reading this thread, but if they have a brother that died and people reg his name to sell on ebay trying to make money out of his death, just immoral.

Poor Britney and Patrick. Not even gone yet and someone has registered InMemoryOfMichaelJackson.com along with InMemoryOfPatrickSwayze.com and InMemoryOfBritneySpears.com and put them for sale on eBay.

Yes yes -- ppl will reg domains like these. But they aren't really "domainers" more like "kids blowing their allowance in the belief that they'll turn $7 into a billion."

I will print this and laminate it to hang it in my room :) :gn:

Yes most of them are scums :( they don't have a life of their own. As it is always boring and unhappening so they keep running here and there and put their nose in other people's business.

I stopped watching News channels just due to this. Because sometimes it is hilarious how loads of advertisements are stuffed into a non happening program where they don't forget to say "We will be right back. Please don't go" :]

This is all fair game. Period.
Case closed.

Sad, yes. But completely fair game nonetheless.

Don't act so high and mighty, and pure or whatever.
(not to imply though I'm calling you any negativities)

If someone can spot an opportunity, and make money out of it somehow(assuming it's not illegal)...then good for them.
Money is shelter, security, food, etc. Nothing wrong with chasing it.

MJ was the Greatest entertainer ever.
He had it all. Voice, charisma, dance, clothing, personality, humanitarian - everything.

Elvis, Beatles, and maybe Madonna came pretty close, but MJ was it though. IMO

Btw, who's buying any of these MJ-related death domains from the hand registerers? They're not that good, and pretty worthless.
lol - most will be dropped within a year tops. I doubt they will be renewed.

If no one, how exactly are they monetizing it - is it even paying for itself?

A lot of people out there have very little moral compass and so are happy to profit on someone else's death.

It's very sad to see, and it gives the domain industry a bad name.

But there's bad eggs in every industry - unfortunately we've just got to ignore them and move on.

I dont see the point, They could VERY easily take legal action if profits are made from his death.

Hi guys.This is my opinion.

I was the first domainer to post that mj was dead on here. That was my initial reaction to hearing the news.I too then took a look at mj domains and found a few were available.

jackodead.com
jacksondead.com

Did I buy them? No.Why? Its not a business its called sick domaining.

Why do you ask did I look.I looked because I am interested.I looked for the hell of it.I looked but did not reg that is the point. If I had wanted I could have snapped up a hell of alot of mj domains.

What I did buy though was michaeljacksonsale.com
I intend to get around in a couple of months time to develop this and be able to let companies or people sell memrobillia or point them to record dealers.

Whats the difference....I regged a mj name....

Yes I did but I am ethical about it.

Fyi domains I refused but could have got were

jackodead.com
jacksondead.com
ripmj.com
michaeljacksonsdeath.com

I quite agree Shane, and cudos to you for not taking the easy option and regging some of those names. :)

There's nothing wrong with creating a respectful site about MJ. For example, on 'the other domain forums' someone has owned a MJ-related domain for a few months and is wondering if it'd be unethical to develop it into a respectful website. The answer to this is no - there'd be nothing unethical about it.

The problem only comes when someone registers a bad faith domain solely due to the misfortune of someone else, in the sole view to make a profit.

Its a shame he's died but these sorta threads do get a bit tiresome.

There is nothing wrong with registering names like RIPMichaelJackson or whatever imo
The world is turning more PC by the day

True Tristan.I really wanted to get michaeljacksontribute.com but it was gone. That really pissed me off because I for one am a HUGE fan.I would have loved to have had that domain.Whats more I would not have placed any ads on it.I would not have been doing that for a profit. You can bet if I tried to acquire it now they would demand $xxxx for it. F them.

For the one MJ domain I reg'd, I've built a little site (links to news stories & a charity he supported). However, even though I set up URL forwarding to that site last night, typing the URL today still brings up a PPC landing page (complete with popups), which I guess is the default set up by the registrar.

Very annoying that it takes this long for URL forwarding to go into effect - my domain looks like another of those dumb profit-off-his-death sites. And this is a domain that could really get some traffic today. (It's a 2-word phrase that had 400 results on a Google search yesterday and is up to almost 60,000 today.) Oh well.
