You might want to consider that Hong Kong is not "Hong Kong", but "Xiang Gang" in mandarin, so in terms of Chinese 4L domains, it doesn't work in the same way as say Beijing/BJ, Shenzhen/SZ, Guangzhou/GZ etc., where the city code matches the city name. The "HK" 4L market is primarily English and Cantonese acronyms in .com. There is no end user market for "HK"+mandarin words or Chip letters, especially in these extensions.

The only common acronym for Hong Kong in business is HK. I have never seen or heard of XG being used as an acronym for Hong Kong in business. Go look at the HK stock exchange or any database of Hong Kong companies. There are THOUSANDS of companies using HK to denote 香港, but not even a handful using XG.
