A good name is in the eye of the beholder. I've just started using Pheenix because I saw the success rate vs. pricing. I will put lower end names here to not worry (a little more than 2x what I pay already). So far, I've caught 2 decent names in 2 days that I wanted and in an auction. Arguably, I could have stayed up till 4 AM to hand register myself and save money.
Why couldn't GoDaddy compete big time? All they would need to do is allocate resources from their $1/month WordPress hosting servers to drop catch. Nobody would notice a thing...
And my thoughts...
I never used Pheenix before before now because the whois information and the website looks like a hybrid of the 90s/00s design wise.
Since using them, I've been happy. However, should I be afraid to BO 100's of names, get them and not have to fight tooth and nail to get them back or transfer out? It seems like they're losing money, but reverting back to the design, they are making a profit by cutting all expenses unnecessary for catching I suppose.
So, what's your take on Pheenix being legit and their whois? Also, with their help quote, why would they really want that from you? What is there to gain if they do catch something an investor saw and sold it for $100,000. I find this hard to believe in a capitalistic society.
I don't figure I'm going to try to sell or develop until they're out of Pheenix, until reassured, those names are mine after the $18 or $$$$ on the auctions.
Any bad experiences, besides not catching a name?
Sorry for digging this up, I couldn't find much about them. They are ICANN accredited, but so is Moniker and Ename.
Thank you ahead of your time for your responses. This does sound noobish to post, but I have doubts as to their profit making strategy... and they seem to be catching a lot of names that I end up wanting, to be beat by them in mere seconds with 2-click purchase and API's running on a smaller scale.
