Say goodbye to Dan, Dan is the best domain trading platform in my mind, I have never complained about any issues with Dan. Thank you, Dan

Dan was one of the best tools in domain investing and truly, GoDaddy heartlessly killing them off is like losing a friend who helped you through some tough times.

I agree. I now have very negative feelings about GoDaddy (and Afternic).

Same here, and GoDaddy (as well as the sellouts of the original Dan) had better hope karma isn't real.

We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.
This statement COMPLETELY patronizes us. To hear you must first listen. You do not want our help. You want our MONEY. Nothing more, nothing less. You will do whatever you choose no matter what feedback the community provides. As long as we feed the glutinous PIG that GD has become, you will NEVER care what we think.

That's why I left them. You should too. We all should.

For me, it started when you couldn't get a competitive registration price without paying for the priviledge.

IMO

I'm seriously thinking about it. Who do you guys prefer overall, Dynadot or Porkbun?

Porkbun (and Spaceship) for me. And FWIW, Atom is developing a new distribution network

I have a feeling that GoDaddy is rubbing their fat, greedy hands together as they lurk around Atom.

Atom is making wonderful innovations and impressive technological strides just like Dan.com used to. Also, it wasn't long after Undeveloped rebranded to Dan.com that GoDaddy came knocking with a fat paycheck.

Another thing that makes me feel this way is that Atom has big money investors now. They would be looking for a nice return on that investment.

If GoDaddy comes with an offer that results in 4-5X their investments and enough leftover to satisfy Atom founders, we'll be opening a series of farewell threads to Atom in no time at all.

I hate the thought but LOVE the word-picture you paint! So sinister and evil. Appropriate!

Afternic should be the one to shut down. The user experience is really poor!
GoDaddy initially acquired DAN because it foresaw that DAN would steal its market share, so it was a protective acquisition. However, DAN had no voice in the upper management, and two years later, Afternic crushed its competitor DAN.

I'm not even sure how anyone could use Afternic as their primary domain marketplace.

I use Afternic as a secondary option in case anyone searches on GoDaddy, and I absolutely hate you cannot interact with the buyer, especially on small sales. Having an Afternic broker send an email to the client takes at least 2 days and it's literally like watching paint dry to close even a basic deal.

It's pretty clear Afternic doesn't have enough brokers to do the workload and I can't imagine how terrible the response times will become once all the Dan domains get dumped there.

I used their nameservers and made a lot of sales mostly due to their next-gen design and features.

At Dan I could kick hobos to the curb in minutes and close deals in hours, while at Afternic it takes weeks to close even a simple negotiation and just as long for the broker to figure out the hobo buyer doesn't even exist.

Selling at Afternic is like moving backwards in time, literally.

yes that's why I said dan was unmatched for landers. payout etc.. but totally suxked for finding and selling our names direct on their market.

But they all do except for GoDaddy, which is why I used Afternic (and GD before they closed) as secondary marketplaces.

But always link your nameservers to the place where you have total control of the transaction and the tools to make the sale.

Even before GD closed down auctions, I received more inquiries and sales from Afternic than Sedo. And lately, Sedo has gone dead in terms of inquiries.
