Some people are a little more old school and they just want that reassurance that comes from saying hey on the phone. My advice is to not worry about accents, do your best to understand them, and if the phone conversation gets hard to understand, or if you're uncomfortable negotiating in real-time in the phone (Should it come to that), I would just tell them it was nice speaking to them but you'll need to proceed via email.
I think just being upfront like, "hey, sure, we can have a call but we may have a tough time understanding each other", I don't see any harm in that.
It's also good to get a little experience doing things that make you uncomfortable, this way the next call for a much more valuable domain will be easier
