I'm happy with BB. I have regular sales but not as good as Sound's 6 out of 14 percentage! :)

  1. Don't read this thread (I'm serious) It will create doubt and confusion in your mind. Follow your own progress, not that of others.

I fully expect that there will be some on this thread that will object to this advice. Those are exactly the people you shouldn't be listening to. The complainers, the blamers, the trolls. The ones who don't want to lose their audience. The ones who feel their lack of success is someone else's fault, usually BB.

Keith, I think that it's important to hear both sides of a story before making a decision. If all reviews claimed that "BrandBucket is the greatest thing ever" then our our expectations may surpass reality. On the contrary, if all reviews claimed that "BrandBucket is crap" then we may miss out on opportunities (sales).

It is important for a person to use the experiences of others to figure out the advantages and disadvantages of taking a certain action.

I'd say read some of the reviews if you have the time, but don't let one individual's experience make your decision for you. Read the positives and the negatives, weigh them against your financial situation and then make a decision.

P.S. Never blame another person if things don't work out. I think success starts with owning both your triumphs and your mistakes. I have 2 domains listed on BrandBucket. If they don't sell, I won't think that it's BrandBucket's fault. I may, however, learn the lesson that maybe BrandBucket isn't the place for a person with a tiny portfolio like mine.

Those who never find fault in the way a business is ran are the exact ones you don't want to listen to. People are wasting a lot of time and money listing names with these sites. ALL opinions should be listened to. If you walk around all day seeing rainbows, smiles and unicorns you won't make much money in life. Positivity and Negativity together create wealth.

What's your secret? D-:
I don't know but I am not greedy very happy to pay $300 - $600 for a good name and sell for $3,000 on BB then repeat

If you are starting out my advice is:
  1. Network privately with experienced, successful BB sellers.
  2. Find someone to mentor you. Not me, as I already have several 'students'
  3. Make a business plan in writing. I can't over emphasize this point. What is the cost of regging 100 names and getting 20 accepted by BB? How many will sell in a year? What will be the profit the first year? The second year? What is the liquid value of your BB portfolio? etc. Then follow your plan, adjust as needed. Money management is key in making the BB platform work.
  4. Keep accurate records of costs and income. Make your business decisions based on data, not on the claims or opinions of anonymous strangers in forums.
  5. Don't read this thread (I'm serious) It will create doubt and confusion in your mind. Follow your own progress, not that of others.
  6. Learn and improve everyday.
  7. Have fun! If you don't love domaining you're in the wrong business

I like your list Keith but I think there's room for No.5. Domaining can be quite a solitary existence, this thread is a nice way to interact with some like minded people. It has a bit of everything and once you can take everything with a pinch of salt I think there's more to learn than be cautious of on here.

But I agree sales need to get increased...BB should work out a way to do that.

It looks like BrandBucket is trying to ramp up sales by expanding their newsletter reach.

Well done BrandBucket!

Note to those who aren't Newsletter believers like myself:

Newsletter domains are treated equally. Meaning staff picked domains and recently added domains are not separated, unlike brandbucket's default search. This mean's in terms of marketing advantages the newletter is an equal opportunity outlet.

"Staff Picks" has always rubbed me the wrong way. Aren't all the domains technically "Staff Picks" because staff approved them to their site. Meeeh, I'm letting personal opinions take over this post.

The point is BrandBucket is implementing new strategies to increase sales, Yay!

Hello guys, i have some question about BB submission.
Is there any matter how much names you will submit at once?
Please share your experience.
How many names you are submitted at once, and how much of them are been accepted?
Thanks in advance ;)

Really?

Show attachment 26149

Run a bulk WHOIS before you assume something and embarrass yourself. These domains were registered and/or snapped when you let them expire. All domains currently resolve to BrandBucket. ;)

You can run 100 WHOIS queries at a time with the following site:

http://www.bulkseotools.com/bulk-whois-lookup.php

Thanks, that's why I changed my comment in a matter of seconds. Forgot these were just designs I provided for them, not my domains.

Over how long a period have your domains been published on average?

Regarding submitting, I would just submit them all at once -- whatever you have.

I stand corrected, BrandBucket default search is sorted by Date Added.

If this was recently changed, Thank you BrandBucket!

@Keith DeBoer Last year you posted this excellent post about your thoughts on the BrandBucket ambassador program.

This is also how I perceive the ambassador program as well. BB has seen how sellers tend to branch off and start their own site and they want to reverse that trend as it dilutes the marketplace. The ambassadors have their names listed on BB and on their own site but under the auspices of BB and sales are processed through BB. (At least that is how it appears. The ambassadors can correct me as needed.) BB gets a nice commission but Ambassadors get increased exposure and can factor the sales commission into their pricing if needed just like we all do at other domain marketplaces like GD and Flippa.

I think its a smart approach and is going to make competing with BB for market share even more difficult. I think having 2-3 central brandable market places is good as competition keeps things sharp. However the current situation of having 30+ places for brandables dilutes the marketplace to the degree that clients get confused and turned off.

Here's a partial list along with each website's Alexa ranking (a low Alexa number means higher web traffic):

28,990 Brand Bucket
40,794 BrandRoot
127,713 Namerific
156,594 YourBrand
227,172 NameStall
365,882 ExciteMental
469,538 MediaPlow
731,968 Vibrand
787,074 Brand Flip
887,868 BrandLance
938,920 Clickable Names
1,193,000 Domain Name Nexus
1,200,000 BranDo
1,505,458 Catchy
1,713,000 Domaintricity
1,755,000 NamePerfection
1,878,000 ICBrands
2,144,000 BrandStarters
2,168,000 NameKraft
2,419,000 JustTheWord
2,504,000 Domain Geek.net
3,000,000 BustaBrand
3,133,064 Crispbrands.com
3,604,000 ShopTopDomains
4,700,000 Name Brandable
4,800,000 Elite Brand Names
6,363,000 NameStrap
7,051,000 Viper Domains
7,728,000 ReadyMade Names
10,500,000 Brandable Names
11,000,000 Nameably
13,000,000 BrandChovy

Forgive me for being presumptuous but is the BrandBucket Ambassador an individual goal of yours? Or, are you running a site of your own?

For what it's worth, I think you'd make a good fit for their ambassador program. While I don't understand it, you always seem to remain professional and positive when talking about their brand.

Thanks GJ, I appreciate the kind words. I've never had an discussions with BB about the Ambassador program. I made some guesses last year about the possible why and how of it, but I really don't know any more about it than you do. Many BB sellers (Michael Krell included) have their own web site where they sell names they own but for one reason or another are not published at BB. My main aspiration is to increase my sales and profits for my entire domain portfolio, BB and otherwise. I'm not thinking of too much else at this time. :)

Now you tell me. On page 206. :-/

I do appreciate it when people post a link to their BB portfolio and/or the names they've sold. It gives me a clue about what is selling.

I have been a member of BB for just over two years
I opened my BrandBucket account with one domain that was not being used for the project it was purchased for. One year later it sold for $7,000
I was busy bringing up my two very young children as a stay at home dad and decided to buy some more dot com domains and list them on BB in my spare time and from the start they started to sell every couple of months which has been most welcome.

BB is not perfect I have had domains rejected and later sold them via www.efty.com. They also value some of the domains for less than I believe they could sell for.
I don't believe end-users choose domains on BB due to price as every-name that I have listed is set at the maximum the database will allow and it has not harmed my sales

From my six sales at BB

Four were two word names
Two were foreign one word domains

none were made up words
