Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It was mentioned here before by Onekey that the potential for the use of VR to showcase high ticket items like jacuzzi's or hot tubs or saunas. I wondered could there be any value with long tails that start with "Luxury" and then whatever "keyword" then VR.com?

so it would look like this?

Luxury + Keyword + VR.com

I see someone did have this idea with LuxuryCarVR.com (not mine!)

what do you guys think? too long?

One could start by looking up the names sales history of "Luxury XXXXX" to see if there are sectors that show deep or broad pockets (high competition or folks that have lots of money to spent).
And then see if any of those look like they make sense with VR.

You drill for oil where it is known to be, not where it is not.

Just got VirtualVets dotcom on a drop. Looks like it was 1st reg'd in 2001. Virtual Veterinarians is a good possibility for use.

I'd bet that 50 years from now the "VR" thing will be as common as .com is now. I just posted an appraisal request for VRvet.net before seeing this thread. One of my more favorite assets; hope I did good hand reg'ing this one...

VRvet.com would be great. it'd most likely fetch you some sort of 4 figure on auction today. more later. not many .net sales to go by yet. so at auction today, you'd probably end up with XX figure for it. imo. which essentially means, don't auction it now.

50 years is a long way from now.. maybe you're right.. maybe not.. who can say.
I guess what we can say is that we'd all like to get paid and some roi way before that.. say within next 10 years or so :)

good luck.

I know someone who has VRvet in dot king. []-)

I don't have a beef with you or anyone else here. It's only a difference of opinion.
You either value my opinion and advise or you don't. I can only say even the voice of experience can often be wrong, but you should at least listen anyway if you have less experience.

By the same token, nobody else should get mad about others opinions. If the experienced domainer's here have to fear getting dragged through the mud, they will be less likely to give you good advice that you may not agree with.
From my stand point, it is easier to say and do nothing. Who benefits from that ? Only Me.

Anyway... I Hope that info helps you pick better keywords. It's part of domaining 101.

Steven Spielberg Thinks VR Technology Could Be “Dangerous” to Filmmaking and Storytelling

http://www.slashfilm.com/virtual-reality-movies-steven-spielberg/

This is a point that I've made before in this thread.

it's not up to him to decide what public will like more.
but.. he can have an opinion like all people.
if he's a smart director, who wants to stay in business, he'll go with the flow ecventually.. whatever that flow may become.. rather than oppose it...

or else... "you're fired" comes to mind. hehe.eh

He's just expressing a concern about VR film making. I didn't get the impression that he's against it. At the end of the day he's wrong IMO because if directors don't find a meaningful way to compose a movie in VR there won't be any dangers because the industry would be self correcting. Industries that don't work don't happen. In the case of VR film I think it may resolve these issues someday but it may be in the form of something that's in between a movie and a game.... Sort of like a choose your own adventure book.

Games like Uncharted 4 have in some ways replaced the need for movies with full movie script like dialogs and celebrity castings. I think that somewhere along the road we'll be creating games with Less interaction and more watching. This will be the new genre that could be the bread and butter of VR film making, because only then will it be justified to have a 360 view of a movie.

Another thing that I expect to happen is that VR films will have arrows pointing where to look and auto-scrolling of the 360 view towards important events in a plot so that the viewer doesn't get left out. This will be another feature borrowed from the gaming industry further blending the two together.

I suspect movie directors of 100+ years ago would have probably said the same thing about Television ruining the experience of seeing actors on stage. End of the day a lot of these movie directors are too set in their ways and don’t like change.

Can’t blame them though as storytelling how it is now have made them all wealthy people so why would they want change? Change In home entertainment is inevitable at some stage though, whether its VR that’s going to be that change or something else but we aren’t going to be still staring at a TV set 100 years from now.

good points.. personally it did not strike me as a positive view or approach to VR on his part at all. but that's just my impression.

VR may well be that rare once every so often revolutionary tech or thing, which will affect the world in many ways. so creating jobs of all kinds and taking away jobs of all kinds, could well be part of how it affects the world! that being said, perhaps he's just a bit scared for his own job! I wouldn't blame him.

other than this, like someone just pointed out, some people are just way too damn old for this brand new ever changing and ever evolving world! I love grandpas and grandmas on internet and computers, it's cool.. but let's be honest 70-80 year old folk on internet, are exceptions. not majority or commonalities. cheers.

Read Spielburg's 'full' comments yesterday...

He was not speaking out against VR , but more for the importance of the director in telling and having control of the story-line narrative as opposed to the user. He fears that it will leave directors job-less and movies without a point to be made or the user missing the point intended to be made (directors job).
But that narrative is what Hollywood has been struggling with in production of VR Films.
It's due for a revision and the outcome of that revision has yet to be determined.

I think his point is well taken (by me anyway) but has no affect on VR or VR names.

BrokersVR.com

New addition to my portfolio:

VR Brokers (.com)

A 14 year old domain so this becomes my most aged VR domain by quite a bit.

Its funny, people here defending VR like their father invented the tech :).. I dont see Spielberg as the frightened type.. The guy is rational and raised solid points that will need answers in the future..
Nothing about against or pro.

It was from the media shorting what he said to make some point he did not try to make for more hype.
Happens everyday.
Make a catchy headline that everyone wants to read, then frame the story to make the case for it.
Much like a DIRECTOR would do in a film.;)
