I suggest a new thread titled Problems, Bugs and Fixes at Afternic - Report Problems Here. Then we can all list our issues so Afternic have to fix them. These Afternic probs have been repeatedly flagged up across numerous threads on here over a period of time, including the need for 2FA. Godaddy own Afternic and have the resources and motivation to fix it - this risky mess is unacceptable and reflects badly on their brand.

For info, Afternic keep reverting some of my domains to "In Review" status for no reason, and I only know that if I log in there to check on them. Until I then ask support to take them out of Review they are not listed for sale and will not sell at Afternic.

@Joe Styler When can we expect Godaddy to take action on Afternic, including implementing 2FA?

I would like to think, that they finally have all the bugs worked out, after the change over to the new payment processor that created all the payout issues! It's not great that you had to wait 2 months for a payment, and hopefully that won't happen again, but from what I hear, payments are back to a reasonable wait time!

Everyone should have they have no emails in their queue today and had been running at over 90% being answered within the first 24 hours so I don't know what happened with your email but that is very unusual and I apologize.

Someone I know claims that he discovered that a number of his domains at AN were in someone else's AN account! I have not even been able to access AN for past two days, and will look into this by checking my domain names myself after I am able to login.

@Joe Styler - It's possible to search the marketplace inventory of dynadot, godaddy, snapnames, sedo, namejet, flippa, name, namesilo, namepal, park.io, bido and more at expireddomains.net, basically every domain marketplace and platform out there, except afternic.

Can you please provide them with an api to let them import afternic names, or at least a list of newly listed afternic names?

Sorry @Joe Styler, I should have clarified more about what expireddomain.net is. Although their name is "expired domains" it's actually quite misleading, as they have grown into far more than that over the years. They not only show expired domains, but offer great filters for searching non-expiring domains listed by sellers at all major domain sales marketplaces, as it brings them a lot more sales. The current seller listed inventory (non-expired) of these marketplaces is listed with ExpiredDomains.net:

Sedo's inventory (the most comparable marketplace to Afternic)
Flippa Marketplace
DynaDot Marketplace
GoDaddy Buy Now and Make Offer listings
SnapNames Auctions (separate from SnapNames pre-release/expiring auctions).
NameSilo Marketplace
DomainMarket
Bido Marketplace

As you can see, these are not marketplaces for expired domains, they are owned by people who are listing them for sale, just like Afternic's inventory is. Furthermore, Afternic's inventory used to be searchable on expireddomains.net before, but for some reason this is no longer the case.

When Afternic names were shown on expireddomains.net, I used to buy 5-10 names at Afternic per month, and I know other domainers with deeper pockets than me that bought a lot more than that. Since Afternic's names were pulled from ExpiredDomains.net, I have bought 0 names from Afternic, and I've heard the same from others. I don't know any domainers who frequently buy from Afternic anymore.

Afternic currently has 12,330,386 domains listed for sale. However, there is almost no search functionality on afternic.com, so it's unfortunately not possible to find good domains listed for sale among those 12,330,386 listings. When domains are shown on expireddomains.net, it's possible to search by age/price/search volume/length/registration data for other extensions/vowels and consonants/search competition/languages, and dozens of other metrics. It makes it possible to effectively find value in a vast inventory, and gives people a way to find valuable domains in your inventory.

If Afternic started working with expireddomains.net again, you would unlock a massive non-targeted potential in your inventory of domains. Right now, Afternic sales mainly come from people who specifically search for (or type-in) a specific afternic listed domain. Because the Afternic website search is very limited, it's difficult to "discover" a good domain for sale there by using the filters. Right now there are a lot of domains listed with Afternic at what domainers would consider reasonable prices. But there is no way to find them. If you gave domain buyers a way to find them, a lot more domains would be "discovered" via filtered searches, and most reseller priced domains on Afternic.com would move right after being listed.

As I highlighted in another thread today, a lot of names expire and sell for MORE than their BIN price on Afternic prior to expiring. Other domain investors would definitively have picked those names up at Afternic prior to them expiring, if only they knew about them. But right now there is no way to search Afternic's inventory for such value, so the value of these names are not unlocked for their sellers. Showing Afternic's inventory on expireddomains.net would be a huge win-win for everyone, as sellers would sell more names, and buyers would have a way of searching Afternic's vast inventory. Please take this into consideration, as it would benefit both domain sellers and buyers and lead to more sales for Afternic.

Afternic listings which can be listed on GoDaddy auctions (almost all of them) are automatically listed on the GoDaddy auctions platform so searching the GoDaddy inventory will result in the same domain listings you can search on Afternic.

I have this ongoing problem. Most of my domains are set to Minimum Offer. With some domains I set a Buy Now Price to activate the Fast Transfer and it hardly works for me. I usually have to call for them to send the opt in email. So with domains set to Min. Offer is there something else I need to do besides set a Buy Now Price so I don't have to call?

@Joe Styler - Thanks for the suggestion, but GoDaddy Auction filters are extremely limited compared with expireddomains, so it's not use them to discover domains to buy in the way that expireddomains facilitates.

It's not possible to search any of the Afternic inventory at expireddomains.net by selecting any of the GoDaddy feeds.

The GoDaddy feeds exclusively show godaddy listings (listings created at GoDaddy.com), and none of the listings that show up at godaddy as a result of afternic listings. The api provided by GoDaddy probably does not send any info to expireddomains about Afternic listings, only about the GoDaddy listings. Maybe that could be changed?

No Afternic inventory is currently indexed at expireddomains.net. There used to be a dedicated Afternic feed back when Afternic provided this. Since Afternic's inventory is syndicated to 100+ registrars, wouldn't it be fairly easy to provide expireddomains.net with these domains too? Letting expireddomains.net search this massive inventory would provide additional eyeballs on Afternic listed names (I don't know a single domainer who doesn't use expireddomains), and most likely generate a significant amount of additional sales leads for Afternic sellers, which would further strengthen your sales reach.

Just to make sure there is no misunderstanding:
1. Afternic listed names do show up at GoDaddy Auctions (godaddy.com), I'm not saying they don't.

2. Afternic listed names do show up on the expireddomains website (expireddomains.net) via being distributed to GD Auctions (this inventory is not searchable at expireddomains.net, only on auctions.godaddy.com). Even though Afternic names are shown as for sale on GoDaddy, the GoDaddy auctions api does not "send" them to expireddomains.net.

I am not saying that Afternic listed names do not show up for sale at GoDaddy Auctions on godaddy.com, they do. I'm saying they do not show up at expireddomains.net. Here are some examples:

These domains cannot be found in any of the GoDaddy feeds on expireddomains.net. They are not searchable or part of the expireddomains.net database of domains for sale. Afternic's 12 million listings are not indexed at expireddomains.net, so it's not possible for buyers to use the tools offered by expireddomains to search Afternic's inventory.

Aren't expireddomains net (and other non-registrar owned sites, such as domaintools) simply participating in marketplace affiliate programs? I've seen domaintools showing forsale banners with whois search results both for afternic domains and sedo domains. So afternic may have such an affiliate program (whether it is public or not, and are the conditions favorable to affiliate - vs Sedo - is another story)

Hi guys,

Had a very bad experience with AfterNic. And I think this is not the last time it will happen.

I have previously sold domains through AfterNic but I always received payments through PayPal, but after the recent AfterNic "Update", they can only send money to me by international wire because PayPal doesn't provide services in my country but I can receive payments on my friend's PayPal who lives abroad. @Joe Styler isn't sure how I was able to receive funds on PayPal before. Anyways, I don't mind receiving payments by wire if I get the total funds and at the bank I want.

So, I sold a domain for $2000 during the first 10 days of June, that email is gone so I can't say for sure. On 15 June the funds were approved and I was told to transfer the domain name. I provided the auth. code immediately and kept waiting for them to initiate transfer. After almost a week, and many requests to TA@afternic and service@afternic to initiate transfer, they finally initiated transfer on 21 June. The buyer must also be wondering that it has been more than 10 days (no doubt) and he hasn't received the domain. He might've told them to cancel the transaction or he could've done a chargeback! Why should they take so much time to initiate transfer?!

On 24 June, transfer was complete and AfterNic told me:

You will receive an email within 1-3 business days to notify you when your payment has been sent to you

Yeah, right. On 28 June, AfterNic told me that they've released the $1,599.20 payment. So they released the payment about 20 days after the sale, no big deal.

It takes 3-5 Business days for payment to arrive but a week passed and I hadn't received the funds. I asked for the "SWIFT Copy" and the name of the bank through which they've sent the payment so that my bank could track the transaction. The date was 5th of July.

6th July, Nick S. (AfterNic TA) told me he has reached out to their accounting department and have requested the tracking information. (Spoiler alert: 8 days have passed this guy still hasn't given me anything! I emailed him several times during these 8 days and He keeps talking to the accounting department and tells me soon soon but he still hasn't given me the SWIFT Copy that was very necessary!)

I told Joe about it 3 days ago and this was his reply:

Nick is the same person I would ask and he let me know that he told his boss to look into it as we do not have access to the SWIFT code. We use a third party payment processing company and they confirmed the payment was made and we have the code and bank info Nick already provided you. Beyond that his supervisor will need to look into it further for you.

So according to Joe, on 12 July, they had the very necessary info but for some reason they never gave it to me. I was wondering whether I will ever receive the payment.

If I would've received the SWIFT Copy it would've been better as I would've known at least the status of the transaction.

24 hours ago my bank told me that AfterNic sent money to another local bank to probably save a few bucks!!!!!! They also gave me the proof in case anyone is wondering.. That bank sent money to my bank and also took money for themselves. I received $1500 in local currency instead of $1600, I am aware a little amount gets deducted but not $100!!!

I don't care if you use a third party payment processing company, you're paid 20% per sale and we should receive the 80% ! Tell your payment processing company to send money to the bank where they are told to send. If they want to send it to another bank, then add $100 to the payment. Send me $1700 instead of $1600 so I get the funds I should.

I already gave you $400 from the $2000 sale. If it costs you a little bit to send the money to the bank I ask you to send money to, then deal with it! I want my money back.

AfterNic owes me USD 100 @Joe Styler . If you think $100 is nothing and I shouldn't be mad about it. Then just send them to my PayPal. No big deal right?

It has been over a month, and the funds are still not credited in my bank, my bank says it will still take a few more hours.

Finally, I had sold a domain through NameSilo marketplace just a few days ago, they always release payment 7 days after the sale and the payment arrives in 3 days at most! And they send full payment to the same bank that I asked you to send payment to. Why can't AfterNic do the same?
