Report Afternic Bugs, Annoyances & Suggestions for Improvement

Dear Afternic Sellers,

Unfortunately, the almost perfect marketplace DAN.com will be closing this month, and GoDaddy does not yet offer a good alternative. Managing and selling domains through Afternic still comes with a lot of bugs and challenges.

To help improve Afternic, I've created this dedicated thread where Afternic Sellers can report all their small and major bugs and annoyances with the Afternic platform. This may concern technical, administrative, UX, payment, lander, portfolio management, brokerage/sales team, or any other aspects, provided it is stated briefly and concisely, with a proposed solution included. Feature suggestions are welcome too.

While sometimes necessary, try to limit discussion in this thread as much as possible. This makes it easier for Afternic developers to implement individual points and further improve the platform. General discussion about the Afternic platform can take place in the Afternic Official Thread.

Please address each individual issue/solution in a separate posting for clarity.

How to Report

Problem: Provide a concise description of the issue you're facing.
Solution: Offer a concise solution or workaround if you have one.

Example

Problem: Afternic keeps logging me out; I have to log in too frequently. "Keep this device logged in" doesn't work.
Solution: Enable permanent or extended login durations, possibly configurable in settings based on IP address, cookies, or a maximum time period, with mandatory re-login every 30 days.

Unfortunately, I am too busy to follow up, so I will not be posting anything for the time being.

At this precise moment, I am feeling outraged and hopeless about Afternic. Period.

I have some strange problem here I think.

Listed domains, which I listed directly on afternic, are being shown as 'not available', at godaddy.

I use ns1/ns2, and few domains lead visitors to a simple afternic page, which offers a button to lead them over to godaddy.


There, the buyer can select 'Get it',
but after 2 seconds it shows: This domain is not available.


Honestly, quite fed up with this.


First DAN staff does not figure out how to use SSH certificates properly, so lots of traffic goes lost and does not reach the sale lander,
now that surprise.

Wtf.


My advice: Go and check your landing pages, and act as if you are a buyer and try to buy the domain (up to the point where you have to fill in the form).

Problem: This would be a full-time job.
Solution: Afternic should employ a product tester to hunt down all the issues (it won't take long to find some) along with some devs dedicated to rectifying them.

My domain is still pending review. This is a critical time for this domain as it is election time. I reached out to Afternic a week ago with no response.

Hi all my domains have been moved to Afternic from dan.com
Since then I noticed a drastic drop in views with many domains having ZERO views while they were getting constant views recorded on dan.com. Has anyone experienced the same issue? I opened two tickets, but the customer support is denying the issue

Does anyone here know if there is a macro/formula to CamelCase a list of domains where the domain is ONEWORD not two? i.e. hotshots.com to be HotShots.com
I have a number of domains that need to be modified but cannot find a easy way to do this

Give it a bit more time, as Dan stats were based on a revolving 30-day window, so give Afternic at least 60 days to see if there are still big discrepancies.

That said, Afternic has had (and still does have) issues with lander uptimes, so that could also be having a negative impact on traffic.

You would need to rely on AI to do that for you. But personally, I would not be letting AI mess with my domains. What if it decides Therapist.com is TheRapist.com?? I'd be spending the time to do it manually.

Totally agree with not letting AI do it,
I did some scouring and figured out a way to get it done with some Excel formulas and some creative uses of Find/Replace
