Hi,

I have a number of websites hosted on hostgator, and they appear to be down. I don't seem to be able to access hostgator itself either.

I was wondering if anybody else was able to access it at this time?

http://www.hostgator.com

It seems as though it has been down for quite some time now, and I am starting to wonder if I should switch to another company as soon as it goes back up and I can get a backup made.

Edit:
Never mind about checking, it appears to be back up. But has anybody else experienced lots of downtime with hostgator?

Host Gator is down?

Hi all.

I'm from Argentina and I've a few sites running on Host Gator. It seems to be down. I can't even access HostGator's site. I've tried from different pc's with different connections and it's the same. I'm trying to contact them by phone but I can't at this time.

Anyone is in the same situation?

Thanks.

I've had some of my sites with them for 5 years and had very LITTLE downtime, especially compared to some other hosts I use/have used.

They have their annoying points, but for me that's not one of them.

Merged topics, I don't think we need two of them.

Was any announcement made?

It appears to be discussed on the several forums at least. Main news so far

On May 12, 2009 around approximately 4:50 PM CT, a number of HostGator's servers went down due to a widespread network outage at The Planet, HostGator's datacenter and network provider.

The Planet has provided the following information, which we will continue to update as it becomes available:
Issues limited to The Planet's H1, H2, and D6 datacenters.
There was a block of IP addresses that were not advertising correctly to the rest of the Internet.
The Planet is investigating
Approximately 25 minutes later, service was fully restored to HostGator's customers and to HostGator's main website. Support channels (phone, live chat, tickets) continue to be busy, but response times should return back to normal soon.

During the brief outage, HostGator provided frequent updates on its Twitter account available at HostGator.com (hostgator) on Twitter.

The Planet is investigating the cause of this issue and we'll report back what we hear from them on this forum post and on Twitter.

If your website was down more than 45 minutes due to this outage and any other downtime events in the past month, please let our sales team know. We will of course honor our standard 99.9% uptime guarantee.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Not only you had that. I believe that all of their customers did. As far as I know that was for 25 minutes
