Recursive.si Just Changed the Game. The Beginning of the .SI Era

A major branding shift may have just started in AI.

And it could become one of the defining domain trends of the next coming years.

The newly launched SuperIntelligence project company Recursive, founded by renowned AI scientist Richard Socher (MetaMind founder & former Salesforce Chief Scientist), has officially adopted:

Recursive.si ( Acquisition $20,000)

This feels much bigger than a simple domain acquisition.

It looks like the opening signal for an entirely new identity standard emerging around the future of SuperIntelligence (SI).

The SuperIntelligence Era Has Its Identity

For years, the technology world rallied around .ai.

That extension became the global symbol of the machine learning revolution.

But the industry is evolving rapidly.

The conversation is no longer only about “AI tools.”

Now the focus is shifting toward:

  • autonomous agents
  • recursive self-improving systems
  • AGI
  • SuperIntelligence

And the natural acronym for that future is:

SI

That is why the adoption of Recursive.si feels so important.

It is clean.

It is exact-match.

It is futuristic.

And most importantly:

It directly represents the next stage of intelligence technology.

This Is Not a Small Startup Signal

Recursive launched with extraordinary momentum:

  • $650 million funding
  • $5 billion valuation
  • backed by:
    • GV (Google Ventures)
    • Nvidia
    • AMD
    • Greycroft

The company’s mission is reportedly centered around recursively self-improving intelligence systems — one of the clearest pathways toward SuperIntelligence.

And out of every possible extension available…

They chose:

.SI

That decision alone sends a very powerful message to the global startup ecosystem.

Why .SI Feels Different

The reason this moment stands out is because .si naturally aligns with the exact language the industry is moving toward.

“.AI” represented artificial intelligence.

“.SI” represents superintelligence.

It's a different level of Intelligence.

That transition feels inevitable as frontier labs push beyond traditional AI models into fully autonomous and self-improving systems.

And from a branding perspective, .si has everything modern tech founders want:

  • ultra short
  • memorable
  • premium feel
  • futuristic positioning
  • direct alignment with next-generation AI narratives

It sounds elite.

It sounds advanced.

It sounds like the future.

Recursive.si May Become a Historic Domain Moment

In hindsight, many people look at early .ai adoption moments as the beginning of a massive branding wave.

Recursive.si has the same energy.

This may eventually be remembered as:

the moment .si officially entered the global SuperIntelligence conversation.

Especially because the adoption comes from a founder as respected as Richard Socher and a team connected to top-tier AI talent from OpenAI, DeepMind, Meta, and Google.

When serious frontier AI builders adopt a namespace, the market pays attention.

The Psychological Power of “SI”

The strongest trends in domains happen when:
  1. a technology movement becomes culturally dominant
  2. a short acronym captures that movement
  3. founders begin building identities around it

That is exactly what may now be happening with:

SI = SuperIntelligence

And once elite startups normalize the identity, broader adoption can accelerate extremely fast.

What This Means for Domain Investors

It is about recognizing the emergence of a new premium category tied specifically to:

  • SuperIntelligence
  • AGI infrastructure
  • autonomous systems
  • recursive AI
  • self-improving agents
  • frontier intelligence labs

The branding psychology is incredibly strong.

Founders building the future often want identities that feel one generation ahead of the current market.

Right now:

“.SI” feels one generation ahead.

Final Thought

The AI era created the rise of .AI.

The coming SuperIntelligence era may create the rise of:

.SI

And Recursive.si may have just fired the official starting gun.

I knew some people would go overboard. I'm pretty sure they didn't "choose" the .si domain, they just added it to their portfolio (because why not, for $20k). But whatever, enjoy the moment. :xf.smile: (And of course I hope that the extension gets some boost from the purchase.)

Congrats on your personal sale. But I’m looking at the broader industry landscape here.

But They didn’t spend $20,000 just to make someone happy. Surely , This is not about you, it's about them and whole of big tech companies are racing forward to SuperIntelligence (SI) era . This is about positioning within a much bigger movement.

"Recursive self-improving superintelligence to automate knowledge discovery."

This is from Recursive.com website so .SI fits in both formats
Recursive SI SI (Self Improving Super Intelligence)

I would think they are initiating branding as many companies entering the RSI field and it would make sense to shut the door on the competition.
They certainly have the funding.

I never said or implied that.

Don't get me wrong, it's fun to watch these narratives develop. And thank you in advance, if i happen to benefit from the hype in the future.

Go beyond the extension rivalry in domainer thinking. Dot.ai and dot.si will coexist in AI branding.

My feeling is that companies and brands using an .AI domain will gradually try to secure their matching .SI as well, even if only for defensive registration purposes, because in the near future “Super Intelligence” may be perceived as more advanced or desirable than “Artificial Intelligence.”

If .Si is really meant for Superintelligence, it will need a massive pump / marketing campaign like Rebrand.now and Daniel Negari are doing for their respective tlds

I see it differently. Extensions usually need heavy marketing when they are trying to create an identity from scratch. In the case of .SI, the meaning already feels naturally connected to where intelligence technology is heading next. AI was the breakthrough term of this cycle, but “Super Intelligence” is increasingly becoming part of the broader conversation, especially among advanced AI startups and researchers. That makes .SI feel less like an invented branding exercise and more like a logical evolution of the narrative. What’s interesting is that some larger startups and tech-focused companies are already paying attention to matching .SI domains, even if initially just for defensive positioning. That kind of organic interest is usually more meaningful long term than pure marketing hype. .AI is Anguilla, but is felt naturally in the Artificial Intelligence space ... I believe same will hapen to .SI

Despite that long write-up, if they already own the .COM it is more than likely a brand protection purchase.

Makes sense. It's not like $20K is some massive amount of money to a real company.

Playing devil's advocate, 20k might not be massive amounts, but it's also not chump change that a business will spend lightly (try selling a decent domain at that price and see how long it takes).

Also, if they're willing to spend that amount for just brand protection, wouldn't that suggest they saw something in the extension that drove them to take action?

Maybe. I have no idea what other extensions they own.

Do they own only two extensions, .COM and this?

Or, do they own 50 others.

When it comes to brand protection, big companies buy domains all the time. Many of them are never actually used.

So, I am skeptical that this is some paradigm shift or landscape changing moment.

True, big companies buy lots of domains that are never used.

Big companies also ignore lots of obscure extensions they could easily register their exact match name in.

Not saying Si is the next big thing (after all, there are few if any Advertisements around the world using .ai) - but it's an eye opener that this particular name was acquired rather than ignored.

They got the .com
This is just a defensive buy.

Nice signal for .si by the way

It’s not about brand protection. It’s about being highly selective. If it were purely for brand protection, they’d be buying up bunches of extension .co, .io, .net, .org, .xyz, bla bla ....extensions and so on. But they’re clearly not doing that.

For a company operating in the SuperIntelligence/ArtificialIntelligence market a .AI or .Si domain is defensive registration/brand protection ... .NET, .ORG, .XYZ are not
