I highly recommend them to anyone thinking of hosting a site any size.
Since I have been with hostgator I have had NO DOWNTIME whatsoever (since the start of the year) and it looks like that's not going to change.

They give you a LOT of space and bandwidth too, so you don't need to worry about conserving space at all.

Ive heard a lot about host gator. Nothing but good things. Someone I know that has a parking site uses them and practically swears by them lol. Butttt I just went to check them out and they only have hosting for Linux? I found that to be really odd.. "Windows coming soon!" Raheaaallly! Well thats cool I guess, Ill just have to find another place.

actually, I used hostgator before and I liked it...I payed by paypal balance...now, I tried to bay by a mastercard debit card and they said it's not accepted and it wasn't processed...I talked to one of their customer care and they told me it should work but it didn't...now, I have to contact sales representative...

I used to be with Hostgator and had no problems. I especially liked paying monthly.

Unfortunately one of my sites was forex related, and apparently they don't allow anything to do with forex (or gambling) even though it was an article site. So I had to move to Bluehost (who I also like)

You'll find mixed reviews on all the hosts, but so long as it's not predominately getting bad reviews you should be ok with most. Always read the TOS though!

Out of curiosity, does anyone know of other hosting companies that sell multiple domain shared hosting with fantastico for a low price as hostgator? I have yet to find one that offers it for a low price that also has as good of a reputation as hostgator.

I personally have never used Hostgator. But I have heard that it is a great host for most sites. Due to overselling, it isnt reccomended for proxies and huge content sites

Windows servers support native ASP and Microsoft Access db, so if you have a site written in ASP is better to go with Windows server. In the other hand if you want to use WP, Joomla or Drupal the best choice is Linux Server imho.

I have 5 sites with them and very happy on 1 account. you got to love the Delxe "somthing features" I forget the name but its at the bottom of the CP, Really neat and easy. One example is xoc.mobi

Its great they have alot of plug ins, wordpress and many more...

Hostgator has been good for me so far. I have had to go into livechat for support or submit a ticket several times (I just submitted one involving addon redirects), but the support is overall good. It was a bit slow today, but they seem to be undergoing major changes to the support system.

Unfortunately, I have had a couple of instances where "I dunno man, just hack a .htaccess file" or "that is already enabled on the server - thanks for your ticket (we're not going to look into your problem, though)" happened, but nothing too bad so far. The ticket I just submitted will determine whether I stay with them, though, ironically enough.

I recommend hostgator as a cheap, fast, mostly reliable host. Make sure you use the $0.01 promo code for your first month in case you run into any issues, though.
