Any website to get the IDN code for a word?

I don't know anything about IDN's, and I am interested in learning about them after seeing some of the recent sale prices for some IDNs I've seen going around.

My question is, is there a website that you can type in a word or phrase and get the IDN code for it? If not, how do you determine what the IDN code is for "whateverword.com"?

Thanks in advance!

Step 1: Get translation for the word you're interested in to the language you're interested in. Example: dog -> собака (in Russian). You can use Google Translate or another source.

Step 2: Do alot of research to verify the translation is correct (don't assume) and the word is used in that particular language.

Step 3: Paste the word into Dynadot IDN search box. Viola!

Most folks seem to skip step 2. Not a good idea.

There are many tools that convert punycode to unicode and vice versa, if you do not want to use Dynadot. Just go to the search engine of your choice and search for "idn conversion". You will get many tools you can choose from.

One more tip here.

IDN domain land rush started on early 2006. It's hard for you to find a good IDN name available for hand registration, especially in .com. So you when find a good one in TLD or gTLD, just make sure if the popular TLDs are already taken.

If not, you will probably need to confirm again if you enter a correct word. By my experience, it's really easy to waste money when you think you find a gem while others all missed it.
