Hi all,
I want to share you some of my experience and what I've archived for 6 months.
Due diligence
I started manually to seek for 1 word dictionary domain name sales. I shortlisted about 50 nice domain. After that I started checking this word in different extensions. The extensions that I've checked were:
The contact
When I found couple of the domains that I was looking for I made very short cold email. It was something like this:
After couple of days I received 1 response. The person asked me what I was offering. I offered $800 + escrow taxes on me(Afternic's appraisal was $1700). The person was ok with the offer. He was inexperienced in domain sales, so I had to lead the transactions. I wrote 1 good email with details on all the steps. All went good and I received the domain.
The sale
After I got the domain I started Sedo auction. Highest bid was something under $1000 (I do not remember exactly how).
I started Flippa auctions. Highest bid was $1200 I think. Again nothing.
Meanwhile I listed the domain here and in Afternic.
On NP highest offer that I received was $2000, but I wasn't ok with that offer.
I received offer on Afternic for $500, which I rejected.
On the 6th month after purchase I received offer for $2500 in Afternic. I received email from Afternic's brokers. They asked me what is the min price that I'm happy to sell the domain. I told them $4000. They told me that they'll contact the buyer to negotiate. After couple of hours I received an email from the broker that they agreed on $5500. Everything went fine and I sold the domain.
Conclusions
There are thousands of nice domains just waiting to be flipped. You've got to invest enough time to find them. After that everything is easy : )
Hope you enjoyed it.
