I've read in numerous threads around here about companies like wellsfargo picking up the .mobi extensions, even though they may not be planning to really promote them..

I'm curious which .mobi's out there are getting the most type-in traffic? Are there any extremely popular .mobi's out there??

Only developed ones. Or the highly promoted ones from auctions. Flowers.mobi has a ton of type in traffic.

It's still wayyyy to early for parked .mobis to get any real signifcant traffic. Real promotion hasn't begun yet and I don't see major traffic coming in till next year. But it's slowly building.

Dir.mobi, wapedia.mobi, cnnmoney and some others probably are getting the most traffic.

Names like sex.mobi may be getting some huge type ins but only mtld could tell you the numbers on that name.

I estimate dir.mobi is getting far in excess of 30k hits per day since he reported that amount in February.

Dir.mobi isn't that far off Alexa Top 100k -- quite an achievement this early in the game.

I think an update is due now, I will post the latest numbers tonight after I check my stats.

Thanks Reece. Yes, it's good to be so close to 100k mark. Although I think, Alexa counts for only PC based traffic ( as it looks for the use of their PC toolbar use for ranking), the mobile traffic is not taken into account. :imho:
Most of the traffic for dir.mobi is actually from mobile. I wish their was a similer tool like Alexa for mobile traffic ( maybe someone from this forum can develop one!).

To be clear, I think they said top 100k, not top 100.

.mobi does not have type in traffic.

if people know about a mobi website, sure they will type it in and go to it.

but that is not type-in traffic.

a domain like Games.COM would get type in traffic even without a developed site.. a name like Games.MOBI would NOT get type in traffic besides domainers, developers, and people possibly looking to register that domain are about the ONLY people right now typing in .mobi after keywords..

people do not type in Keyword .mobi and expect actual usable content or links like they do with .com..

Then who's clicking on my parked pages :hehe: But yes, I'll agree that there's one heck of alot less type-ins on mobis vs king Com.

clicking on links and blind type-ins are two different things.

people can find the website/parking page other ways besides blind type ins.. and it doesnt count if they are a domainer/developer or the website has ever been advertised...because then it is not a "type-in"... it is a site they already knew existed.

type-ins for mobi is a pipedream this early in the game.. i think a lot of people are going to be disappointed with expectations like this by the time first and second drops come.

which leads me to my theory of "The Great Mobi Domainer Depression" which i believe will happen starting off with 1st drops, and then leading down to September 26th, 2008... where the junk dump will begin and some people will interpret this as "mobi is going downhill"....... stay tuned, its going to get crazy when people are tired of waiting and first renewals/drops come ;)

I'm putting a good 10k in the *.mobi Depression fund*, I think we'll see it too -- just like .com back in the day. And then those who sold/dropped their mobis will really be quicking themselves afterwards:)

As for type-ins... Some of my names which I purchased for development purposes would not be very desirable to domainers -- i.e. yohimbe, tribulus, ashwagandha, brahmi, astragalus,... Your average North American/European, has probably never even heard of these, let alone purchased them or be interested in owning domain names of these terms.
