We have the final sales for several .mobi's and I'm curious as to who ended up with the most expensive ones (and believes THAT much in .mobi's this early in the game). Was it speculators, developers, big companies, random people, the same person/company, who? Is their a pattern to this? If they're all speculators who don't plan on developing, then I think .mobi is headed for trouble (as I mentioned in another thread). On the other hand, if they're all big players with development plans, then I think we're golden. I think that analyzing the owners of the top .mobi's so far can give us some good insight into the future of this tld.

Can anyone find out this info?

I couldn't get any info on the sales from the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conference, but I was able to digg up some info on the owner of Mortgages.mobi...

Mortgages.mobi $10,500

Doesn't sound like a speculator to me, so this looks promising. :imho: I hope the rest of the owners on that list are like this for .mobi's sake.

I was in on several of these through pool.com auctions. If I could do it over I would have bid much more for cafe.mobi, loan.mobi, deliver.mobi and tech.mobi. They were all great deals but I think deliver.mobi was an absolute steal. Although it's not on this list, tech.mobi went for around $700. Another bargain. I'm happy with what I got, but I wish I would've had more time and money because I really think .mobi is going to take off. I will be developing some sites in the next few months also because I want .mobi to be successful and feel that it is my responsibility to develop and not just park. Great list and great start. Can't wait for the next premium auction prices!

To have such a big player getting in so aggressively so early is a damn good sign...

To have such a big player getting in so aggressively ...

This hit me rather hard, and not in the way intended. Ever read Forbes, Baron's or any Wall Street type publication???

20 million dollars would not get you in the door with those guys. I do not know if that is an accurate number for Rick's net worth, it seems really low from what I have heard, but if it is, it underlines how small domaining is in the overall scheme.

How to take that? Perhaps that there is still a very very long way (up) to go???

Comparing Sales

Well were in for quite an experience with the slow, gradual release sales of premium reserved .mobi names. Imagine all the cities, one worders, two word combos etc. still have yet to go!

I want to point out that the Pool auction sales are gravely undervalued becuse those auctions were limited to a few people who put their name into pool and had the opportunity to bid - mostly domainers who knew how great pool was.

The traffic auction and subsequent release of premium names will be the true market indicator of values.

I know huh I had some pool names I coulda bid for but was spent out $60 a pop around landrush time. It was a decision, but I missed out on some great names hehe..

Well, in baseball you cant bat 1000%.. all domainers experience that great missed opps and hopefully some steals.. and most famous successful people had to fail first many times to mold their minds onto truth and trends.

Regards,
