.mobi .mobi traffic

I've noticed over the last week or so that my .mobi's are getting alot of type in traffic at the moment, more than usual. I'd like to think it's members of the public trying .mobi out, but i would be more inclined to say that it's .mobi investors poking around for available domains to reg. Has anyone else noticed this?

With some REAL support from .MOBI, folks such as yourself that are developing unique and compelling sites may become targets for possible acquisition, IMHO. :music:

Could this traffic be coming from bots / spiders - perhaps from MTLD?

I ask this because my default portfolio at Namedrive is getting 10.85% CTR, and I have a portfolio of 'keypad typos' of generics - stuff like vide6.com - and these are getting 10.00% CTR. But my .mobis are getting 0.48% CTR - doesn't add up.

BTW, the typos are set to .mobi template.

Mine received more traffic from Canada, USA, Germany, and Africa so I think it's just an increase in dotmobi awareness rather than bots, spiders or mtld.

Tested a few names on sedo, and the worst ones are getting just under 100 uniques a day, so its not too bad.

You are right, I do have vested interest. Regarding valuation, I think the value should be atleast 6 to 7 figure. The reason is the site is already making about $400-500/month ( 40k hits per day) ie. about $5000-6000/year ( and that is today). You need more than $100k in bank to get that kind of return on your investment and so that is the value of dir.mobi today. Typically any site ( or business) sells for 5 to 10 times the present value, so we are looking at 6 to 7 figure. I have seen domain names with no earning today ( and not much in future without good development) go for 5 to 6 figure, so a developed site which is making 4 figure right now with exploding traffic ( in 6 months time) should have much higher valuation :imho:

As for dotmobi traffic... Looks like not only is it increasing in hits, but also in curious people visiting NP. Usually around this time I'd count 20-25 people, yet as I write this, their's 33 in the dotmobi forum. Someone must be doing something right :hehe:

On 04-16-2007, 06:29 AM I reported 51 hits total.

As of this time stamp, that number is 513 with hits on 92 parked mobis.

Fux.mobi has 1333 hits on AdMob. Lord knows how many have actually used this site in total.

I am receiving more hits in April than any month prior. The last three days have averaged 50 hits a day with a total of 226 for the month. I wonder what is going on?

I think this is a good gauge of which ones are popular and perhaps which order I should develop. Some are surprises to me but many are not.

Strong dictionary words that essentially are their own keywords (in any language) as well as geographically related all appear to be doing very well in regards to hits. Some numbers are doing very well along with CVCV. Not much to speak of in terms of revenue but still encouraging and worthwhile monitoring for the stated reasons.

This is my thinking as well. I've got many nice geo domains but one that surprisingly has ranked near the top of hits is riviera.mobi.

Whoa...that would not be surprising to me at all. International jet set appeal, Cannes film festival and Monte Carlo are all associated with the French Riviera not to metion what is commonly referred to as the Italian Riviera and Adriatic Riviera. You're looking at pretty valuable real estate and quite a strech of land on the Med. Mercy, don't forget the Casino action that goes on in these areas.

Yea, for all those reasons I regged it. I'm just surprised how its traffic is 3x or more over names like Pasadena, Waikiki, Yellowstone, GrandCanyon and Alcatraz. Reno is the only one that is close. Like you said, it helps prioritize the devs.

International vs. local or regional appeal and popularity would be my guess. Cannes film festival may be coming up as well as the Venice Film Festival. If they are not "immediately" coming up you know at the very least preparations are under way.

I wonder also if we are seeing a case of "cabin fever"...folks making searches and plans for vacations.
