.mobi .Mobi's missed the boat

I really am starting to think that. There is absolutely nothing to indicate that .Mobi is starting to catch on in the world. There is just a lot of hot air which is mainly being created by the domainers on this forum still hoping to see their investments taking off. The Mtld site also does not inspire any great confidence and it looks like they and sedo are trying to squeeze the last dregs out of the .mobi gravytrain before it halts to a grinding stop. I invested too(67 .Mobi's) but I have given up hoping that it's going to go anywhere. I think (IMO) .mobi's going nowhere. It is not going to take off and is not being accepted as the great big new mobile internet revolution for mobiles. There still has been no grand promotion to bring it to the general public and I dont think there will be either. And by the time there eventually is such an awareness campaign it will be much to late. The much vaunted investors like Microsoft, Nokia and others have not shown any signs of support and I think never will. Sorry to be so pessimistic but I for one have given up hope and will just let my 67 .mobi's expire quietly. Not even worth putting them up for sale on the market place here as no-one makes any bids or offers on the .mobi's being offered there. Which goes to show that the market for .mobi is slowly dying. I'll count my losses on this one. I did think that .mobi was going to make it big like most of you but I think the writings on the wall now.

Binary, i think your wrong, maybe mobi less of a share perhaps (i disagree with that too), but it'll get a slice of the mobile pie.

We can't have mtld making mass advertisments to the public when there are not enough developed sites. Why would they promote mobi when it's basically all parked pages? Give it time and I think you will be amazed at how it becomes a household name!

Most of my domains were regged for the 2 year period and most are good for another year still. All with Godaddy of course and they cost me then (most regs from October/November 2006 I think it was $60 each ) Anyway if you want to see what I,ve got let me know and I'll PM you a list.
Ps. I will keep 17 of my domains( the ones I consider very good) as my backstop. The other 50 I will let go at the price I paid for them. Some are $30 a piece as they were regged for only 1 year and need to be renewed around February 2008.

You can't have a lot of developed sites when all the premium names are being held by Mtld. If .mobi is to be a success, the premium names need to be released without a reserve and without any conditions. Let the market work.

Sorry to hear that you are so disgruntled with how .mobi is doing. Personally I invested about the same time you did and couldn't be happier. Whether or not .mobi "makes it", the first year has been good to me. Maybe you just didn't invest in the right .mobi's? I have sold dozens of .mobi's through the marketplace here at NP and have bought dozens too. Everytime I post my list for sale I get offers and usually make some win/win sales. I also think that people with good .mobi's are able to sell and there are quite a few people with so-so .mobi's and think they have good .mobi's and they aren't able to sell for what they want. Just my opinion. I also would love to see the list you are willing to sell at cost just in case... Hope .mobi takes off and works out for you in the end. It's still too early to give up, IMHO.
