Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

K mate , cheers!

Back to VR offers and sells.. Anybody?

Got a low xxx for keyword+VR.

Countered.

thought I had a bite on VRTRVL.com and TRVLVR.com but seems to have fizzled out. Told them I was developing it so their offer would need to be "substantial". they were using a generic email like JohnSmith1234*@gmail.com so I figured it might be a broker.

did I scare them off? I remember some NP guru on here telling me to always make it seem like you are already developing your domain.

Good luck with your Counter Eladnof. Quote from Leonidas from the movie 300.

"Give them NOTHING. But TAKE FROM THEM EVERYTHING!" This is SPARTA!!" lol

Np mate, just trying to help.
As we are talking on emerging tech, the numbers are irrelevant imo.
If the keyword is connected or will connect to VR that( the main concern for me, but as you said, you are entitled for an opinion, im just one of those guys that cant sit on the side and see people throwing away money.
I think you are one of the more creative and energetic guys here, and some of your picks are good, but when we have 1 good and 100 bad, then the 1 sale wont be enough.
Again, its just me and ill stop from now on.

Good luck!

no no don't stop! keep it up! don't on account of me! I don't get offended. I'm thick skinned. with my VR domaining I do need thee occasional kick in the pants! lol back to VR domaining.

Interesting stuff.

I've always wondered. Perhaps the best place to try and SalespitchVR.com someone is perhaps someone who is just starting or is going to some virtual reality university or course?

The graduates of these institutions most likely will start their own startups and those startups will need domains?

You can't just register a domain and say hey this sounds great! there's too many opinions out there. and you can't rely on just your opinion. The Numbers always factor in.
Age -Monthly searches - length of domain - how many drops? if any?
How much an advertiser is willing to pay to be associated with a specific keyword? (CPC?)
surely you are not saying that people should just register great VR domains and just wait for that fat paycheck?
Agreed... Somewhat... There are no different rules that apply to VR names. It is still pure fundamentals.
I've had bunches of heated posts getting many to start using stats on this thread and I'm glad most are in the practice of looking for/at the right data, but let's go a step further to dispel many a wives tale.

Age is really no factor on pricing. Some use it if they are buying in bulk and don't know or can't study the particulars. Normally coupled with one or two real keywords that make sense if it matters at all.
A bad name is a bad name no matter how old it is. If you need a name, do you care it is 1 yr old?
Length of Name not really always a factor for pricing. You have ONLY the desired keywords or you don't.
"Unneeded keywords are a minus". If a long word is needed, it is a good word to have.
VirtualReality is a long name. 14chars. Many that play this game say 12 or less. Missed opportunity's.
# of Drops - How could this possibly change valuation? However, more important to end-users would be that the domain email was not used for spam and the domain was not used for placing malware or adult or anything that might get it removed from the primary search results. That would have a SEO cost and additional time needed attached to it as a negative.

Some you did not mention.

+Not easy misspelled.;) This leaks traffic to someone else.
+Easy to remember.
+Not confusing similar to other domains or brands.(unless your wanting leaked traffic from them)
+Just makes sense
+ natural - TYPE-IN traffic and PPC revenue.
I will say there is a market for those confusingly similar and/or misspelled to pick up leaking traffic. Traffic numbers speak for themselves in value.
The bottom line is the bottom line. What can the domain do for the end-user. Most important.

That leaves you with the most important factors of Keyword search results and keyword advertising bids.
That data has yet to show itself in the marketplace so everything now is just a guess that you are projecting will do well in the future. Believe me, when it really hits, you will certainly know it.
The volume of data needed is not there yet. may see good usable data in Q1 2017 after the xmas season when you will have most products out there and consumers begin to look for relevant things.

That should give some of the newb's more to digest.
Yes we are all guessing, but guess looking for the right things that will matter in the end game.:$:

This. I own VirtualRealityMarketing dot com. I've had people tell me it's basically no good because of the length. Sure, I would prefer to have VRmarketing dot com. But as it happens that is already a developed site. So in my book I own the second best domain, an exact match domain, in a huge VR niche. The domain is as long as it needs to be.

VR FOCUS.com hit 690k web traffic last month. Not to shabby for a technology that 2/3 of the population know nothing about. Just sayin....

I don't hate other TLD's (check my earlier comments), I just find little value in them EXCEPT:
Where the TLD enhances the KEYWORD and/or where the keyword would be a very strong as a .COM

You win on both counts. But is a unique value that is very hard to determine.

We are very disappointed in our gTLDs. We have several in the .tech, .fitness, .healthcare, etc. and basically get no interest and very few visits. There are some successful sales with gTLDs but after years of doing this we still find .COM is king. We thought of getting some with VR in front but the carrying costs of the gTLDs tends to be too much.

We are still getting the most interest in our shorter VR domains with .COM.

imo ... strong vr keywords in few gtld like xyz or .club have potential. in the end, not all gtld are created equal. i feel there is big quality and potential gap between for example xyz and club versus.. things like website.. site.. press.. pw.. etc etc.. for VR domaining future... jmo.

Why is there a gap?

I don't know. I'm hesitant to buy gtlds except for personal projects, but I think it's a solid domain.

I guess time will tell...

Why is there a gap?

age of gtld.. popularity etc.. I do not determine or decide it. none of us do.
all you and I can do is look at overall interest.. and documented sales.. it is then easy to see something like for example xyz is in a completely different ballpark than say pw or online or website and many many others..

for me its okay to have some fun on 50 cent or 1$ promos with VR and ngtlds. but imo it is not good investment in VR future otherwise... aside from a few very strong VR keywords, in a couple of extensions like xyz. I personally had a few mid to high XX sales in xyz.. for strong VR keywords. and a few in .club also.

New extensions seem to do best as single quality keyword names. It's when you start reg'n 2 or 3 kw names on a sub-par extension that creates waste. I have quite a few VR names in new extensions, mostly dot tech. No interest, thus far, for any of them.

Depending what .tech does in the next year, it's unlikely I'll renew any of them in 2017. A couple I do like are BestVR and SmartVR in the tech extension. But again, no interest thus far.

I chose the keywords I saw in the top twenty historical domain sales. Just figured it would be better to market to have historical data of a high domain sale of the keyword in my .de domain.

Just a word of warning to anyone registering .de domains, you need to have a German contact on the WhoIs information otherwise the domains can be cancelled by the German registry Denic.

Also some of the other European extensions have their own restrictions. Definitely check the T's & C's before you spend $$$.
