.mobi TRAFFIC West Live Commentary -- For Mobi enthusiasts

I figure a lot of the people here -- like myself -- are not very interested in the non .mobi sales at TRAFFIC West; so the main discussion thread might not be the optimal place for us to talk about the proceedings.

Lets use this thread instead.

For reference: Main Discussion Thread.

I think the .mobi prices are more realistic this time around as well. Maybe this will finally influence people to stop trying to sell me their LLL.mobis for 5 figures :)

I was thinking the same thing... I had my eye on 2 .mobis and the owners want 6 figures... maybe they'll come down to 4? ahhh... wishful thinking. LOL.

Who is this guy? What an idiot, he's like 12 years old.

.mobi's are still selling for quite a bit, so there's no ship sinking, it's just not sailing as fast as expected.

This guy is a .mobi hater.

did pics.mobi go for 24k?

It seems that some .mobi fans see these prices as a failure, but that just shows their perception might have been manipulated by the hype. The fact is, if these were .US .INFO or .BIZ selling at these same prices only months after those extensions launched, it would have been considered a success.

Totally agreed :).

I hope everyone reads this post. I also see it as a very good sign. Also, keep in mind there were some amazing .coms in the room, and it's a good sign that .mobis sold at all alongside some of the other gems. Plus, perhaps many domainers "shot their wad" (their words, not mine) at the previous live domain auction (adult show this past January). Alot of the same domainers in both groups.

Not to change the subject, but do you think that Guy Scott will pay the $7,500,000 will take it before the auction closes. I think that he should, Porn.com is so Huge

Once again... you are speaking as if you know everything. Don't act like you have any insight/knowledge into what went on. You trying to tell us that you know exactly what Rick's plans were and I think it is ridiculous for you to assume you know what his intentions were.

offer us your own insight and stop being such a fair-weather fan. if you look at your past quotes, when it comes to .mobi you sway from side-to-side so often it's always appears that you're trolling. if you choose to sit on the fence, that's cool, but stop trying to turn every thread into an anti-mobi thread. There are many of us here that are serious about .mobi, heavily invested in the development aspect, and here to network with like-minded people... if this were a social club, supper club, nightclub, etc... you would have been given a final warning or thrown out for being consistently disruptive. There are plenty of other threads, domain boards, etc where anti-mobi-ism is permitted, your friends & fan club are over there...

... stop trying to save us from our ourselves.

.

hmm..interesting that since I have my own OPINIONS of how things went you think I shouldn't even be allowed to post in this section. The last couple days I have used the word cult to describe mobi fans. It's starting to fit more and more with comments such as yours.

This is a domainers forums...I am perfectly within my rights to post my opinions. I am not kicked off because I post intelligently and with my own insight and I don't pretend it to be anything else. Your elitist mentality is your own undoing.

Bad news for you too..."anti-mobi-ism" as you call it..is allowed here too. I don't tell you to stfu and leave? That's just rude of you telling me I can't participate here because I don't fit into your neat little dillusion of mobi fanatics. The mobi cult is becoming more and more clear here. Anyone speaking a negative word on mobi is a mobi-hater mobi-basher or whatever and we should be brought into the fires! lol

Get a grip on your problems with me....if you wish....add me to ignore. I certainly have a fair amount of unintelligent posters listed on my ignore list. If you can't handle honest, open, and differing opinions then it's YOU that should find a new site to particpate at.

Now I gotta comment on the fact that the mobi's are sold from mTLD...are they ALL from mTLD? That's pretty disgusting and I mentioned many weeks ago that mTLD is only in it for the money and that their releasing of domains will be inspired by greed. Gosh I gotta go find that thread. The mobi-cult was insistant that mTLD intends to give the premium domains to those with good applications and willing to develop the domains. BULLCRAP.

keep in mind, the high bid was about $5M in January, right? after reviewing the stats, seller should hold out for a bit more. :)

I think the owner just wants to beat the business.com record of $7.5 million...I would want more too.

The :$: 's will be far more modest than posted thus far, IMHO ... and real-life End users will be the key potential acquirers (versus the usual suspects), as well! :imho:

Just my two sense.

I'm now looking forward to hopefully seeing the list of End users that actually participated / acquired domains for near-term development, IMHO. :music: :talk:

PS. I think Jesse's posts provide good insight and balance to the .MOBI Forum, IMHO.
PPS. Now, back to the show! :gl:

Yup, It wil be exciting to follow though, and I am shocked that the big players in "the industry" that they did not try to get it. 7 Million is pocket change to some of these players (let alone a single investor.) I used to work for Taboo.com and people in that industry tried to get that name all the time.

do you consider your post regarding "sinking ship" as intelligent? insightful?
do you even realize how often you backtrack/flipflop on your own statements? or forget what you posted a day earlier?
do you consider the fact that you try to add negativity to nearly EVERY .mobi thread where people haven't ignored you?

perhaps that's the secret for getting you to quit trying to derail the .MOBI forum... is for us all to ignore you.

thanks for the advice.

Thanks, but I wasn't joking ...

I, for one, will not put Jesse on "Ignore" ... and believe the .MOBI Forum is in need of his often insightful, yet sometimes quirky, OPINIONS! IMHO. :)
All due respect, of course, to those that may disagree.

That's but one quote ... if you look at his entirety it is, actually, quite insightful ... and, yes, again sometimes peculiar, as well. Truly. :)
IMHO.

Another successful day for .com, .mobi, and a couple of other extensions.
Looking forward to the next auction in June.

Folks ..... keep it clean.

Everyone has opinions and Childish Name Calling will not be tolerated. I'd rather close the whole thread down once it gets to this point myself ... It's just silly.

To quote Jeff :

Be cool. Be polite. Be professional.™

;)

Why are you only posted one line out of that post? I post dozens if not hundreds of sentences and you choose that one to say I am unintelligent? lol

Oh so laughable. You can all add me to ignore list (those that are in the mob-cult) and I encourage you to do so. This way when I make you look silly for your posts you won't even know it. lol....

Ignoring me doesn't mean I can't read or reply to your posts you silly person you. Although it might be silly of me to even be responding but oh what the heck it's all fun anyways. I added a person to my ignore list today so it only seems right that I get added to someone else. It's just karma I suppose.

As for the end of the auction and the success of mobi...imho it was a success..if you view it from most mobi-cultists they aren't too happy. Apparently getting $20k for pizza.mobi just wasn't enough. And realestate.mobi wasn't the big $xxx, xxx sellers many assumed it to be. Those are FACTS. You can go into lots of thread this past week and see the posts. Yeah...it COULD have gone the other way and mobi could have rocked..but guess what...it didn't. Instead it fizzled back into a realistic spot with some good $xx,xxx sales and some nice $x,xxx sales which is exactly where it should be.

WAKE UP AND BE REALISTIC about the value of your domains.
