I figure a lot of the people here -- like myself -- are not very interested in the non .mobi sales at TRAFFIC West; so the main discussion thread might not be the optimal place for us to talk about the proceedings.

Lets use this thread instead.

For reference: Main Discussion Thread.

I was 'gunna say ... I thought there were supposed to be a lot more domains being auctioned! I wonder why they didn't just pare down the list ... :| :imho:

I was listening right up until the end when they asked the audience to shout out the lots they wanted. There were a few dot com's chosen rather hastily and then they were out of time unfortunately.

It was mentioned that they have sold more domains in this particular auction than any previous.

Why do the mods put up with this at all? it is obvious he is here to troll. Does it generate more page views? or?

doesn't it actually deteriorate the community aspect of this site to allow this to continue?

perhaps that's why much of the .mobi discussion has moved onto private boards and alliance websites. not shocked at all.

tell me where...please

... b/c they wanted to advertise this as the largest live domain auction (ever)? LOL.

Ahhh ... :guilty:

PS. I had realestate.mobi and singles.mobi as #1 and #2 (and still don't like the plural Casinos.mobi in the second slot). I then had cam.mobi, directions.mobi, pics.mobi ... so was generally in good rough personal ordering, IMHO. I should have predicted higher for pizza.mobi ... and, really for me, eat.mobi is still too expensive! :p
Just my follow-up thoughts ... do we know of any known End users? I guess pizza.mobi would be the obvious one for acquisition here in this respect ...

Ignoring me doesn't mean I can't read or reply to your posts you silly person you. Although it might be silly of me to even be responding but oh what the heck it's all fun anyways. I added a person to my ignore list today so it only seems right that I get added to someone else. It's just karma I suppose.
Hey, hopefully it is me after I called you on your slanderous remarks towards me in another now deleted thread. I can only hope.

Europe.mobi sold for $2,900 :| "in the hallway". I would never let it go at that price. I am sure Think has had bids at Sedo for much higher.

That is so wrong. When the auction is over, its over. So are they bidding in the bathroom now? $200 from stall #4! This is BS.

I was surprised at how much some of the .com names fetched. I wonder if some developed sites (and traffic) come with them.

Dot mobi not only held it's own but bagged some nice sales. I mean really, $85,000 isn't anything to sniff at, in my world at least.

I guess xx,xxx doesn't go as far as it used to.

Now, gotta get busy figuring out how best to develop my mobi domains.

Regards to all,

Sags

Yup, and it has nothing to do with .mobi or anything IMHO

The bathrooms is my joke, but apparently the hallway is no joke. The seller is going to be pissed and rightly so.

I sure hope he had a reserve on it...I would sue if my name was sold in the hallway...and not in a proper format.

I don't know what Pinky can do, this was owned by a fellow NP'er.

I think .mobi prices were quite respectable, given .mobi has yet to prove itself in terms of traffic, and that is the bottom line for domainers.

In the future, I hope that Mtld focuses on the content-providers rather than on domainers, because that's what will generate traffic, not parked pages. I would rather see some big corporation given a premium mobi in exchange for agreeing to promote it's mobi, featuring it prominently on it's .com site, etc.

I get it now ... been reading all the threads as wasn't there LIVE ... and although it didn't get quite that messy (from the bathrooms :p ), there was, in fact, some bidding going on in the hallways, quite literally! I don't think that was very professional, all kidding aside IMHO. :|

Thanks for the clarification, Scandiman.

excellent prices for these mobis ---- fetching that kinda kaching after ONLY 4-5 months ---- location location location --- Mobi is looking like a pretty sweet 'hood --- it's not Malibu, or Ginza (in Tokyo) or the 16th arrondisement (Paris) or Monaco, or Manhattan, but, give it a few years and with lots of development, this newest 'hood will bring in a sweet cash crop for owners with solid mobis!

someone mentioned reality check? You betcha --- and the reality - MOBI is a vibrant investment ---

Perhaps the NP'er that listed Europe.mobi was not aware that it sold so cheap. Perhaps he's not bound to an agreement considering it never really went to "auction". I can see him selling that name easily for mid-5 figures. If he wanted to sell it for less than $3K, then surely he knew that NP'ers here would have bid much higher on NPs own marketplace. I'd love to hear his side of things.

Why are you only posted one line out of that post? I post dozens if not hundreds of sentences and you choose that one to say I am unintelligent? lol

Oh so laughable. You can all add me to ignore list (those that are in the mob-cult) and I encourage you to do so. This way when I make you look silly for your posts you won't even know it. lol....

Ignoring me doesn't mean I can't read or reply to your posts you silly person you. Although it might be silly of me to even be responding but oh what the heck it's all fun anyways. I added a person to my ignore list today so it only seems right that I get added to someone else. It's just karma I suppose.

As for the end of the auction and the success of mobi...imho it was a success..if you view it from most mobi-cultists they aren't too happy. Apparently getting $20k for pizza.mobi just wasn't enough. And realestate.mobi wasn't the big $xxx, xxx sellers many assumed it to be. Those are FACTS. You can go into lots of thread this past week and see the posts. Yeah...it COULD have gone the other way and mobi could have rocked..but guess what...it didn't. Instead it fizzled back into a realistic spot with some good $xx,xxx sales and some nice $x,xxx sales which is exactly where it should be.

WAKE UP AND BE REALISTIC about the value of your domains.

I won't add you to my ignore list...I do that with spammers and people who insult me personal...

I still think that 20k for Pizza and 16,5 K for musicvideos is a bargain...but for the rest. 2nd best extension (after Com).... seems good to me...

It's good to be realistic about the current value of the .mobi domains. I see too much crap domains being registered
