Anyone have any news on this auction which is underway?
mjnels said:Jeff has a habit of taking any opportunity to post (in unrelated threads) the same talking points he's been posting about .mobi for more than a year now. scandi doesnt do this, and neither do many other people.
its literally copy and paste at this point... you disagree?
snoop said:The thing is both Scandiman and yourself have brought up this "unrelated threads" issue, but the thread we are in is clearly related to .mobi price falls? So is it possible the other threads are in the same category of being "not actually unrelated to .mobi"?
snoop said:You think situation with .mobi (price falls) is unrealated to a thread about the latest Traffic auction?
Jeff said:Agreed.
Reviewing the handful ... and based on prior hype and unsubstantiated hysteria ... severely mediocre - to - lackluster "sales" of "dot Mobeys" to Usual Suspect™ domainers (versus actual End users) here at the recent Traffic, the future is not at all promising when you combine this market reality with the facts that mTLD has done nothing to enforce the mandated development requirements and has clearly abandoned the RFP process! Literally 1,000's of undeveloped .MOBI's are still languishing in the hands of m(oney)TLD, the extension's very DIFFICULT task to brand its awkward and unnatural four-lettered / two-syllabled nature, and complete - I mean, 100% - LACK of corporate adoption of its most generic (non ™) terms ... I'd say these prices continue to tumble significantly through September, 2008 and beyond IMHO.

scandiman said:Seems like you're the only one with increasing concerns about .mobi and there is no satisfying your spin machine and I think Coast sees your sig and recognizes it.
It's been noted elsewhere that all prices are down, yet somehow for you this means the death throws of mobi. For me it means more buying opportunities. .mobi buyers at the live auction got some great deals.
scandiman said:It's no mystery that I'm enthusiastic about .mobi. But I don't go around injecting it in every other unrelated thread. I came here for auction updates and was greeted with more of the anti mobi diatribe. As before I paused to point out the anti .mobi Agenda™ and get an earful. It is not a topic I introduced here, merely something I am responding to. I honestly don't care if people love or hate .mobi, I just don't see a need to have .mobi injected in every other unrelated thread.

Most of the rest of us are just enjoying the wake. Vindicated after predicting Mobi bombing for about 2 years. Hopeful this will blow a big enough hole in the circus known as TRAFFICS to enable Domaining to establish itself as a bona-fide industry.
How can it be unrelated. You sound just like those that think it is alright to bang on about dot Com all day long, but as soon as the possibility of it being registered in a different script, then it is heresy. This has always been my problem with Traffics is that it is not a free and open market place. It is a vehicle of manipulation.
The Death of dot Mobi was the biggest thing to come out of TRAFFICS. It could not have had a more friendly venue. Rick basically launched the extension single handed. And not even he could resussitate it.
coast said:It seems to me that all but one of the .mobi names sold, meaning the sellers had realistic reserves on them. How you see that as dead is beyond me.
snoop said:I think they were all registry names? Not sure what the actual reserves were but generally they have a "whatever they can get" attitude.
seanboy said:It's "dotMobi" you douche.
The only difference between you and a troll is that you get a free pass.
Rubber Duck said:Very sensible strategy in my opinion. You should all consider doing the same!
The reason Jeff is tolerated is that he brings a crucial sense of balance to what would otherwise be a whole load of pump and dump hype.
Tolerated? No, greatly appreciated!

You've obviously made up your mind, even a moderate decline in prices is the death of something to you. You're entitled to your views. I suggest you don't invest in it if you have no vision for it. For me, declining prices present a buying opportunity, you're welcome of course to buy when the prices are higher if that is your preference.Rubber Duck said:The Death of dot Mobi was the biggest thing to come out of TRAFFICS. snoop said:Pretty hard to do in practice, easy for the registry since it is employees making the decision and the registry paid nothing for the names.
 sure, the device that is helping to build the main user base for the extension is fatal to it. Got to love that reasoning.Rubber Duck said:Dot Mobi was fatally holed by the launch of the iPhone.
