What really catched my eye on this years CES '24 is, that on the one hand the terms Spatial / Spatial Computing (Computer) & AR
& on the other everything around Ai gadgets is very present.
Is
spatial about to "replace" the term metaverse??!
This is of course just a provocative thought,
but it surely is about to become the 2nd most important term on that letter.
Especially, since Apple uses it by purpose & deliberately,
while almost trying to avoid the (used to be) common terms AR/VR/XR/MR.
Fascinating to watch.
On one side we see the approach of
desktop-less (PC-less) computing,
solely with a headset or glasses,
on the other the approach of
hands-free, mostly voice based usage of Ai in our daily routine.
Replacing the need to take out your smartphone, navigate threw apps, tpping 10 times to reach your goal,
by simply pressing a button & telling your Ai pocket companion, what to do...
Companies like xreal or nimo try to fit their AR functions in a much smaller case than apple or meta with their VR/MR headsets,
and still reach great workflow capabilities & performance.
Just need to add some Ai, and we are good to go.
AR + AI = Smartglasses
After Smartphone & -watch, that would just be the logical next evolutionary step.
