I barely participate (only if I have to) in their auctions due to such instances and often occurrences.

I did suggest them to start auction after it past grace period.

But they always come up with some nice excuse and think all other traders are fool. They don't know what is going on.

They only care for their own agenda. They take their powerful position in domain market for granted.

But what if Google & Amazon come into the space??

GM was #1 company in 2001 and filed bankruptcy in 2008.

Kodak was # 4 company in early 2000 and filed for bankruptcy later.

The company who do not listen to their customer and start taking their position for granted will suffer big time sooner or later.

What I think the biggest thing is the inconsistencies as I pointed out before between Dispute.com and 6666666.com, how those auctions were handled were not in anyway consistent with their policy.

They do have a complex road to navigate when they auction off other registrars domains because they cannot dictate to them what their grace periods and redemption are. Now you wonder why they don't make them change their terms to be universal with theirs, if those registrars had their own auction platform with a large following they would not use GoDaddy, so they need GoDaddy more than GoDaddy needs their business.

No only after 30 days, there is a 4 to 5 day window of an auction running and the ability to renew.

They just make their own rules up as they go along, happened to me a couple of weeks ago.

I won Guernsey.org at Godaddy expired auction on 14th October, made payment same day and then on the 23rd (day before I'm due to take ownership) they refund me the money. When I called support they told me previous owner had reclaimed the name.....

No it's not and Paul Nicks even said it last night on Twitter. He said it could even be renewed after 30 days if extenuating circumstances.

A lot of people have that opinion, I believe the opinion of GoDaddy and other registrars is "We don't care what domain investors think" It was something they lucked into, ICANN never meant for them to get rich off this.

I dunno... What I do know is that they shouldn't be auctioning off names that can still be renewed. Everyone is doing it but that doesn't make it right.

Paul tweeted again when I asked can it be renewed:

Not sure how many days post expiry it is, but if its after 30, then not without extenuating circumstances.

I replied:

No Paul this one is weird created because the expiry and create are not in unison Creation Date: September 13, 1994 Expires: October 2, 2020 But it's not 30 days yet. What would extenuating circumstances be if it were 30 days after?



Now Paul replied

Cant enumerate all possible issues that could come up (death or other hardships as an example). I'm not a fan of zero-tolerance policies; there should always be room for nuance.

This was my understanding too. I'm sure I remember a big thing about it with emails being sent out to explain it etc.
