I think the age of the domain definitely helps if it's an older domain, but could work against for newer domains. Maybe show by default, and do not show on a domain basis (as an option).

As for domain length, don't think it's necessary to show, although it wouldn't be harmful. A buyer looking for short domains already knows how many characters a domain has. And someone looking for a brandable or keyword domain, isn't really going to care how long the domain is.

    Good morning all,

It is true that we aim to have as many escrow accounts with as many registrars as possible in order to provide the most optimal service. However, we will never enter into an official collaboration with SAV as they are an unreliable registrar. Personal experience dealing with them lead to this decision. In addition, it is true that they also copy our product in full and till date still proceed doing this regardless of actions taken.

We do not aim to collaborate with registrars that do not have a long term future within this market. @alcy, I do not recommend proceeding indeed but the advise is based on what we have experienced while dealing with them.

    Have a great day.

Quite a few months ago (September 2019) there was a discussion on your search missing exact matches. After at first misunderstanding the point, at end you agreed it should be looked into. Is there any update on this?

To demonstrate what I mean, here is an example that is not my own, so no chance of claiming self-promotion. Neural networks are hugely important, so it would be reasonable for a potential client to type the following in the search box. Note I have added spaces so search results will not pick up this name here.

    n e u r a l n e t w o r k

Your system responds with 3 pages of results. However, nowhere within those three pages does the result of the exact match domain name n e u r a l . n e t w o r k, which is for sale on your system, appear. Surely it is a relevant result!

Now, if the potential purchaser knew that there was a .network extension, and searches instead on

    n e u r a l . n e t w o r k

then it will be found. But many would either not know, or assume that just searching the words would find it, since Google search we do every day prepares us to expect that.

Some of your competitors do have search so that it would find the exact match (and some do not).

As it stands still today, the DAN search eliminates exact match results, unless the person puts in the dot or searches on only part of the term, neural in this case. This is, in my opinion, losing potential buyers.

I hope you can provide some update on the remediation of the problem.

    Thank you,

    Bob

PS It was in Sept 2019 that you agreed that you see the issue and it would be looked into. Here is the link to your response. If you have over the last 6 months responded why it could or would not be done, and I have missed it, my apologies. I thought I would remind you in case it got overlooked in all of the great innovations at your platform. Thank you.

PPS In case some reply, like last time, they don't want to see any new extensions in results, I would point out that this is a problem with all extensions. For example say someone searches for WORD AI and it happens that the domain name WORD.ai is in DAN, it won't appear anywhere in search results! Same with .net or .info or anything else. Exact matches are missed unless the search is done with the period.

    Good morning @Bob Hawkes,

Thank you for reaching out to us again.

You are absolutely right and it is still listed with our product team. However, regardless of the time discussed we have prioritised several other features above this improvement. We recently released the lease-to-own feature on the platform. This required a lot of attention and dedication from our product team. The live verification was recently released which is currently being optimised in order to reduce the time needed for the nameserver to take full effect. Once this is concluded I will forward the request to our product team to review our search.

    Have a great day!

@LaszloSchenk, Please, improve your chat support. It's annoying to wait more than one day to get a reply (n)

I second that. It looks unprofessional. Even when a staff member is available, it looks like they are juggling between dozens of customers at the same time. I often get a reply in the lines of "Hi, what can I do for you?", then I reply right away and it takes more than an hour to get another reply, and so on.

This is very unproductive for your users and it makes me think whether the same thing happens when a potential buyer enquires, which would result in many lost leads.

Overall, DAN is a good platform, so this is no empty criticism. However, I believe you are severely understaffed at the moment and would greatly benefit from giving a higher priority to hiring new support agents. I know you'll reply that you have this in your pipeline and it takes time etc etc, but the truth is you'd be able to do this much more quickly than you say if you had it high in your task list.

Just my 2 cents. Other than that, keep up the good work.

    Hi Bohdan,

We are operational during business hours. None of our chat tickets are lasting longer than or equal to 24 hours.

What inquiry are you referring to?

    @LaszloSchenk

Here's a very small suggestion to make it easier for sellers to manage the rental settings in bulk.

The rental settings controls are cumbersome because the rental fee has to be entered individually, clicking on a small 'R' icon. After the rental is configured, it's hard to visualize the rental fee from the control panel, and there's no way to view or edit the rental settings in bulk, which for larger portfolio holders is essential.

I'm sure that the whole possibility of renting names goes unnoticed to some users because the feature is hidden.

Solution: drop the 'R' icon entirely, and add another column, 'Rental Fee', alongside 'Buy Now' and 'Starting Offer'. If left blank, that means the rental isn't active for the domain.

The same can be done to the 'I' installments icon, moving the maximum number of installments to a new column. If left empty, purchases over installments are unavailable.

These changes ease the bulk editing task immensely, as sellers may upload the rental and maximum number of installments directly onto a CSV file. They also allow sellers to have a clear overview of the rental and installments settings for many domains at once.

Although screen estate for new columns is limited, I checked that there's plenty of space in the desktop version, and in the mobile version the columns already don't fit the screen as of today, so it's just a matter of choosing how to format the columns.

For example, you can easily gain some screen estate by rephrasing to shorter terms ('Views' rather than 'Monthly views', 'Min Offer' rather than 'Starting Offer'). Or better yet, drop these terms entirely and use appropriate icons, such as an eye for views, an interrogation mark inside a chat balloon for leads, etc.

    Thanks for considering!

    Good morning all,

Starting from today, we will be removing all Corona Virus related domains from http://DAN.COM.

We're seeing astronomical high prices being asked for these domains and find that unethical and unacceptable.

We strongly encourage DAN sellers that own a Corona Virus oriented domain to donate the domain to a charity, government agency or non-profit organization that's involved in battling the virus and misinformation about it.

DAN will facilitate those transfers for free.

    Have a great day!

Ignoring the fact that you can send a message, there are currently three ways to respond to a potential buyer: Accept offer, Send a counter-offer and Decline offer.

Would it not be an idea to change the first option to "Accept latest offer", because that gives a seller always the option to accept the buyer's latest offer, even when the potential buyer has declined a counter-offer.

So if a potential buyer offers $1000 USD, and you counter with $2000 USD and the buyer declines that offer, you can then still accept the $1000 USD offer (as you technically haven't declined that by sending a counter-offer).

Would others think that that could be an interesting feature?

You've already replied to me, but... Yes, I've started a conversation at 6:18 pm. You replied back the next morning (today at 10:41 am). Yes, it was not your business hours, I guess (what is yours: 8 to 5 or 9 to 6?), but with all respect, other marketplaces can give a reply even after business hours. Buyers can come anytime. I hope you improve this issue in the nearest future. All the best!

    Hi @LaszloSchenk and DAN:

Ever think about spicing up the landing pages a little bit to boost new buyer's confidence to progress with a purchase or offer? Maybe show icons for secure payment options like PayPal, Visa/MC, Bitcoin, etc in the buy/offer form? Maybe put some info and stats about DAN like "DAN is one of the top trusted domain name marketplaces today. We've helped over xxx,xxx domain name buyers & sellers connect for fast, easy and secure sales/transfers since 2009."

    Just an idea. Thanks

    Good morning @MarkedMarket,

Thank you for reaching out to us and your suggestion.

We might be expanding the options in the near future but this will not be one of the additions unfortunately. The main reason is that this will cause a power shift to the seller. As a seller you are stimulated to always counter any offer as you can always accept the former offer whenever you please. This results in a higher dropout as many buyers tend to look for other domains when the price is too high. Ultimately, the percentage of defaulting buyers will increase. This is why we always maintain that only the last offer can be considered binding.

    Have a great weekend.

    Good morning @Maxxo,

    Thank you for the feedback.

We recently released the seller boxes to inspire trust which already shows in the significant drop of uncertain buyers. I will forward your suggestion to our product team as well as it could be a nice addition.

Thank you very much and have a great weekend.

Hi @LaszloSchenk You people have been showing irrelavent domains to the buyer after submitting their initial offer. Why dont you simply show the respective seller's domains instead?
    Please have a look.

Thank you for your thoughts Laszlo. I do agree that it will cause a power shift to the seller (which might be right given that sellers often deal with anonymous people only filling out an unverifiable first name), but I'm not sure if it will necessarily lead to more dropouts, as you could argue that it might lead to more closed deals (as the seller can still make use of the buyer's last offer) and higher sales (as the seller might indeed be more incentivized to counter-offer than is currently the case). You could even think about a mechanism whereby this option is only allowed/available if the seller's counter-offer is not more than 100% of the potential buyer's last offer, so that the power-balance between the parties remains more or less in place. Anyway, it was just a thought and given that not many other persons seem to think that this could be useful, it might indeed not be worth further pursuing. Have a great weekend too!

I agree - they shouldn't show other domains, irrespective if they are relevant or not (and they are generally not relevant anyway). They often show domains from Buydomains/com by the way, see for example the last domains that have sold (14 out of the 15 are from them, in case everyone sees the same domains):

    https://dan.com/buy-domain/userview.co.uk
    https://dan.com/buy-domain/absatzhelfer.de
    https://dan.com/buy-domain/fvux.com

Another related issue is that DAN doesn't set the right price expectation for a potential buyer by showing them domains that are for sale for low XXX to low XXXX. That is in my view one of the reasons why sales prices at Afternic/GoDaddy are significantly higher than DAN's, at least for me.

this is an amazing system ... no powershifts at all.
both buyer and seller should be 100% responsible and bound by all offers they make, regardless of following counteroffers... for a period of time.. say 7 days... during that time both buyer and seller should be able to accept any offer they please.

this will lead to an infinitely greater number of sales. and it requires nothing more than a line that mentions next to each offer that this is how it;ll go down.

kudos to those markets that already have this going. and i would advise those that do not, to strongly consider it. some sellers/buyers may not like it.. but in the end, it results in more sales not less, and more advantages than disavntages. its that simple. but... i do not expect dan.com to listen. i guess they can be hard headed like that sometimes. despite the many feedbacks they do listen to. what say you mr @LaszloSchenk ?
