Bad news for ICANN !

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
In a nutshell:
US Bush administration announces, that they won't let go the control of DNS sytem, and that they will maintain control over basic servers "due to their economical importance".

Once more US shows their unilateral politics behaviour as they announced that they won't let go the control over basic servers as planned to ICANN.
The argument the Bush administration uses is that "they are too important
for economic reasons".

This places ICANN into a very delicated situation and will result into a
polemic between Internatuional Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Washington.

In details the US decision will affect the 13 basic servers (10 of them in US)
that control DNS system, including the "Root Server A" the most important
and property of Verisign (former NSI).

All this to "preserve the securety and integrity of the DNS system" as pointed
out by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).

--> Bad news for ICANN !

And bye bye to the promise of a independent internet !
