A warning - UK2.net - if you use (or have used) them, read this!

Be aware that if you pay by credit/debit card for any uk2.net hosting service, you will be put on 'auto-renew'. They will bill you continuously without notifying you.

I suspect there are a number of people around who have in the past had accounts with UK2 and not realised that they were on this 'auto-renew' thing and are now getting charged yearly/monthly/etc for hosting they are not using.

They do not email you notices that you have upcoming payments being taken, or that they have taken a payment - its completely silent.

I'm currently disputing a £88 payment for a personal hosting account with them that I cancelled back in September 2010 and have been forced to file an unauthorised payment claim with the bank due to this shady business practice.

So, if you use or have ever used UK2 - you may want to check your bank statements! I cant comment on their other brands and have no idea if they use the same dodgy practice on those.

Thanks, I was just planning on purchasing web hosting with them. Think I shall use a credit card too just for security reasons.

Yes I'd advise that. Be aware that whatever you pay for your first year is a 'special offer' and will double for the second year onwards.
