Recently, two of my listed domain names got offers for $3k+ respectively. i wasn't notified of these inquiries by the platform, and only noticed it by monitoring my personal stats. being that they are listed on a brandable website, i had no way of directly interacting with the buyers. had it been my own landing page, i could have attempted to immediately engage in these possibly impulse buys and accepted the offer while iron was hot. i reached out to the support team and didn't get a response for a number of days (to judge favorably, maybe they were indeed negotiating behind the scenes) until they notified me that they will resend the buyer a link to accept, but for now it's been quiet..

Tbo, without the platform i most probably would never have gotten these offers altogether, to even get to a negotiating stage. the dilemma is how to break the barrel and still hold the wine. i'm intentionally omitting the platform's name as the purpose here isn't to bash them, rather i'm looking for anyone with similar experiences that learned how to maneuver around such situations, bringing a satisfactory conclusion for all.

That’s a tough situation, and it sounds like a missed opportunity to engage with the buyer directly when interest was high.

i wasn't notified of these inquiries by the platform,
Hi

if the job/service of the platform is to sell domains, then they are being irresponsible.

you should put their name out there, because others could be using them and not being notified as well.

also, the way you explained it, doesn't seem to be a way to check legitimacy of the offers or respond to them.

imo...

Support responded now with the following non-generic and respectful words:

"I completely understand your concern and would feel the same way. Rest assured, I will handle all inquiries and work to secure the highest possible price for you. However, please ensure not to lower the price to a point where you won’t be satisfied with the final amount.

If you're not receiving notifications for offers below your target amount, don’t worry. You don’t need to flag this up, as I will be notified of all offers. My approach is to negotiate with buyers to increase their offers until we reach an acceptable amount or the listed price.

Sometimes, it may take several discussions with a potential buyer to reach a price that meets the seller's expectations/listed price/acceptable offer, but I will always strive to achieve the best outcome for you. Additionally, there may be instances where individuals contact us with inquiries unrelated to purchasing the domain—such as offering unrelated services. We will make sure to filter out these irrelevant inquiries so you are only notified of serious offers."

In turn, the point at issue really has a much broader implication; how much agency does the seller have vis-a-vis the platform. Which imo may very well be a matter personal preference in selecting a business model, to run or to participate in, as opposed to right or wrong.
