I rarely use privacy when registering domains but I might have to start. My phone, texting and everything wont stop. Anyone have any suggestions of how they handle this?

They get pay to do what they suppose to do so we need to be polite with them.
If they call just start asking questions:
- What is you name
- What is your phone number
- Your address
- Your social security number
- keep going until they hang up

Or if you don't want to talk then ask them:
- Would you mind to hold?

and keep them on hold until they hang up.
"Would you mind to hold?" Then plush the toilet with your phone is in volume; this will do :xf.laugh:

Never seen so much. I will be moving to privacy I believe. Could it be the registrars pushing privacy? :)

I just understood your point, sorry for being slow.
Not sure if it was tongue in cheek but i'm guessing it may have been?

It actually would not surprise me if Godaddy are behind this, they are the upsell kings, auto adding extra years of regs etc. I'm also saying this kind of tongue in cheek but let's face it they do have plenty to gain from forcing us into privacy, privacy costs us at Godaddy. Are they paying these Indian spammers lol?

BTW most of my domains are at godaddy. Do others still experience this relentless wave of phone/text/email spam from other registrars like enom etc. or is it just godaddy?

I not think BD is paying them.
But maybe they're not unhappy either.

Heres what I did and it kind of works - In messages go to settings / spam / spam words / phrases. Anytime I get a message - You have been selected / godaddy logo / all the above I just throw it in the spam filter. Be sure to use phrases that people you know arent going to be texting you cause they will be blocked. - I did this after black friday and I havent gotten one message yet.

What you can also do is go over to google voice - (not sure if thats the exact name for the service)

But they give you a free phone number, and you can use that. Should someone ever need to call you or whatever it will still be available if you check up on it, however atleast it wont go to your phone phone and I dont think someone is going to go phone before email anyway.

I dont get why these companies try so hard to be sketchy... If i thought i won a godaddy logo for only a so much, i would be paying for it on godaddy, not over a phone.

Just get a google voice number? All messages and texts will go to google acc.

Too bad registrars don't give free privacy and forward inquiries to the registrant. :)

Namesilo offer free privacy on domains regged with, or transferred to them.

Either that or put your phone to the smoke alarm and press the test button!

Just kidding :stop:

This is a perfect example of people over-reacting because they think their time is so valuable that they need every single second of it- the way they like it only.

Would it be nice to never ever receive a single spam email again? Well- of course it would be. In a perfect world that may happen, in real life.... you guessed it- it wont.

I mean, how much time does it REALLY cost you per day to delete/sort out the extra emails that are spam... even with 100 emails a day, it really shouldnt take more then 5-10 minutes.... most of you sit at the computer all day and sort out stuff, answer inquiries, do outbound, and that for hours... now you have nothing better to do then cry over these few minutes you lose every day because you lose them to the "BAD BAD SPAMMERS" and your oh so perfect world is now destroyed, Come on now.

The above is pointed to the majority^^ not to the ones receiving 500+ emails a day that due to premium portfolios, but there are steps to take like the one who requires you to pay to send them an email, this will clean it all up nicely, and $5 will more then do. Heck, even $1 would.

Now PLEASE dont confuse this with a "pro spamm post" lol its not.... but please start crying when you have a reason to do so, not because you received an email you didnt want to receive, they always were and always will be, find a way to deal with them... because i can assure you that the world dosnt care about your "i want this and this, but not this please- type of world"- accept it - move on.

I'm sorry I couldn't disagree more.

When you wake up like I am regularly to 20+ spam emails and then a ton more come throughout the day it is unbelievably annoying and distracting and i'm not even talking about phone and text spam going with it. It eats up a substantial amount of my time every day and i'm sure it's not just me. It is absolutely outrageous and getting worse.

These people are absolute scum of the earth and they should be strongly condemned and I appreciate others coming up with the best ways they have found to mitigate this barrage of spam which by the way also can include phishing which includes attempts to hack my personal information. If you are happy with the status quo okay but please don't blame others for complaining about what is becoming a major issue and trying to best deal with this going forward.

I will not answer to this simply because i really dont want to get into any arguments, but please do note that the above is really only an issue if your living in a primitive thought out wonder world, that dosnt and never will exist.

ill also add "IMO" here... just to clarify that.... in the end, think and do what you want, its your life and time.

I can delete the emails but the calling and now texting is too much.

I 100% agree... I don't want to put a privacy filter on my domains due to possible inbound opportunities, but I might have to, these calls (95% if not all of my calls come from India) are getting ridicoulus. I may have to start being deceitful in my contact info.

Which one?

You wont "change my mind" lol... i dont live in fantasy land and like to focus on real problems that get into my life when they do, instead of "spam emails" lol....

Do you have any smaller children? Right now is the perfect time to hand off the phone and tell them its Santa that is calling.

Phone solution: I have a phone that stays turned off except maybe 2x a week to check voicemails and text messages. I delete them all at once and takes about 2 minutes.

Email solution: Same as Josh mentioned, I use the phrases to weed out spam via filter. Most of the time never hits my inbox.

Even with privacy I still get loads of spam. Stops the phone calls but not emails.
