While recovering from the past weekend of scattered deals and in anticipation of the next SuperSale, I am weary of having several threads related to the SuperSales at Domain - MyDomain - NetFirms - Dotster.

Since the promos often work at more than one reseller, I would love to have a single thread to watch and participate in, if you agree, hang out here and watch this thread!

All NPers are welcome to post coupons and promos here as long as they are Domain - MyDomain - NetFirms - Dotster. That way we all have a better chance at awesome savings as soon as the promos are live!

The usernamex Guide to SuperSales

SuperSales are promotions done by the family of registrars under Domain.com, including MyDomain.com NetFirms.com Dotster.com

About every 10 days to two weeks, one or more of these registrars runs what I like to call SuperSales - with dot COM / NET domain registrations for bargain prices, $1.99 - $2.99 - $3.99. Sometimes the specials are good for multi-year registrations, sometimes only the first year is discounted.

The super fun part is they let you use coupons ON TOP of the promo, so there have been specials as low as $1.39, $1.59 is more common, and $1.99 is still great any time!

If you are new, the best choice is usually MyDomain, since their renewals are second best (to Domain) and I have not seen the $1.99 special ever offered at Domain direct

A great way to get an account set up is NOT during the frenzy of the SuperSales, and a trick you can use without having to contact support is to buy the easiest to type/remember cheapest domain you can, like whatever ngTLD is on sale for $1.99, that will be your username. You can drop the domain after a year and your account will be fine. Otherwise get on chat and they can set you up ahead of time without having to make a purchase.

To make it easy for everyone, if you can BOLD any coupon codes, that would be super, and if you tested coupons successfully, please mention the reseller where you tested.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Do you find one of these related co's to be better than the others.

No, they all share same platforms, so all are the same for me.

Strange, when they have told you that?

Dear Ken,

Thank you for contacting Afternic Support. The registrars Dotster, Netfirms, and Mydomain.com are not Premium Network Partners at this

time. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.

Apparently Public Domain Registry Limited is the registrar for Whois.com. So Whois.com is actually part of your fast transfer network.

To be clear, you include Domain.com in the Premium Partners. Does that inclusion carry over to Domain.com s sister registrars, like Dotster,

Netfirms, and Mydomain.com?

thanks,

Can you provide me with the full, up-to-date list of Fast-Transfer registrars?

I saw this, below, but it doesn t include Godaddy and a few other registrars that I believe are included:

Making your domain a fast-transfer domain gives you the highest level of exposure--75 million+ potential buyers each month at the

highest average sales prices. Fast-transfer domains must have a buy now price and be registered through Network Solutions,

Tucows, Register.com, Name.com, eNom, eNomCentral, EuroDNS, Moniker, DynaDot, TerraNet, DomainDiscover, MeshDigital,

Gransy, Regtons, 123 Reg, DomainBox, or BulkRegister.

Dear Ken,

Thank you for contacting Afternic support. Yes, sorry for the confusion, there are a couple of Registrars who were part of the program

previously that have not yet been removed entirely from the website.

Please reach out to us if you have any other questions.

Did you know that Dotster is listed on your web site as one of your fast transfer registrars?

Interesting. As I said, during that time I used their Fast Transfers on domains registered at Dotster and Netfirms. Thanks for letting us know, will keep an eye on that matter.

Yes, but as I've reached a limit with some promo coupons, in order to keep using them, I had to use other registrars as well.

By other registrars do you mean the sister companies?

•••
I see they mention Domain.com as a part, still no other sisters companies, which doesn't make any sense. So still hope this is a false info. Or some issues they had recently could trigger these changes. Who knows...

Yes, sorry I wasn't clear. I now have domains registered at all of them, but most at Dotster (more than 250).

Yes, it could be that Afternic is phasing them out or just that their support personnel are ill informed. Who knows really.

Yes I find that happening all the time.

These companies hire idiots to work their customer service.

Maybe they do not train them well.

Many times I get conflicting info from them.

How are we supposed to manage our domains if these companies can't get their sh*t together?

How often do Dotster, Netfirms. MyDomain, and Domain/com have the 1.99 promos?

When do you think the next one will be?

How do you know when it is going to happen - do they send emails to account holders when they are going to run a promo?

Group effort Promo alert is the entire point of this thread : wink :

Promos are totally random, some last 6 hours some last 4 days. Never know. It has been around every 10 days to two weeks. If you go back through the existing threads you could find the dates and see if there is a pattern. Promos are NEVER sent by email or advertised in any way, you just randomly check and - GAME ON!

The coupon codes on the other hand are always sent out (email list) and posted to fb at 14:00 UTC so if you are waiting for a coupon and it's a holiday, that's when it happens.

I do not recall if I signed up for the emails on purpose or they just send to account holders, pretty sure there's a newsletter signup on the home pages.

Do Dotster, Netfirms. MyDomain, and Domain/com all have the promos at the same time?

I don't see the point of having an account at all if they are all connected anyway.

I already have enough accounts to keep track of.

Domain/com, Netfirms, and Dotster are sister companies.

Should we have an account at all three or is just one enough?

1
•••
@Cdomains - I have accounts at MyDomain, NetFirms and Dotster because the specials don't always apply at each.

Specifically if the sale is running everywhere MyDomain is the best choice because renewals are the cheapest, in case you ever have a domain that can't be moved for some reason
https://www.mydomain.com/join/index.bml?AffID=839948

And NetFirms ran a $2 transfer special, however I doubt we will see that again
https://www.netfirms.com/join/index.bml?AffID=839949

Plus I know many members have multiple accounts so if you use up a coupon it will apply at a sister company. I accidentally have 2 MyDomain accounts because their cart timed out during a SuperSale, and customer service told me not to worry about it. I figured I'd keep it to practice pushing to myself : grin :

When I went to Dotster I had to buy a domain to open an account.

Do you have to buy a domain to open an account at Domain/com, Netfirms or MyDomain

or is there a way to just open an account without regging one?

1
•••
Well if you use today's coupon, COM/NET is $7.99, which is still a decent deal OR you can get a throwaway dot club or dot website for $1.59, and who knows, maybe you could flip it for $2 and profit!

For me it was less hassle to just buy a name than futz with chat, although it has been reported here that people were able to get chat to open the account for them.

Sorry if this has been answered, but have not checked in for a while. Has netfirms had any .com transfers going for $1.99, been a few weeks, any update on that?
