In this week's Top Topics, there are a couple of notable discussions surrounding four-letter .COM domain names. We all saw the rise of this category last year - could this year yield yet more increases in four-letter .COM values? Elsewhere, Shane Bellone has shared his views after his first year as a full-time domain name investor in what is a very interesting read.

You Thought 2015 Was Crazy? Get Ready for 2016

We can all agree that 2015 was an incredible year for the domain industry: we saw new records being set, we witnessed buyouts, and there was more money entering the field than ever before. @Axorees has given his own predictions for what is to come in 2016. These predictions include the prices of all 4-Letter (4L) .COMs reaching at least $1,000 by the middle of the year. Could these predictions prove to be true?

Selling A Reputation for $100

Almost every domainer has had an experience of a deal going wrong, but few have risked their reputation over a matter of just $100. @johnn shared his story this week of an agreement he had made to buy two domain names for $1,000.

After this offer had been accepted by the seller, johnn naturally thought that this sale was now a formality. However, just 15 minutes later, the seller informed johnn that the domains had just been sold for $1,100. Could this type of behavior ever be justified? Is it worth risking a bad reputation to get an extra $100?

Why Being a Domainer Is a Constant Hustle

Domain investing is a unique industry in which you can invest a small sum of money and potentially see a large return relatively quickly. However, to reach a position to be able to constantly see this type of return, you need to work hard, and you have to be constantly learning.

In this discussion, @Shane Bellone shared his experiences of his first year as a full-time domain investor, documenting the ups and downs of his year.

How Much Should You Charge End-Users for 4L.Com's?

If you have been browsing the domain name blogs and forums for a while, you will have no doubt witnessed the rapid rise in four-letter .COM domain prices. Chinese Premiums (CHiPs) reached an average sales price of over $2,000 per domain last year.

A very good question has been raised this week. If domain investors are charging other domain investors $2,000 per four-letter .COM domain, how much should end-users be quoted for the same domain name? In the past, end-user pricing has been far higher than wholesale pricing, but will this change? Has it already changed?
