Based on your sales experience, which option leads to quicker sale of the domain?

1) Domain For Sale landing page with enquiry form and no Ads

2) Parking the domain with Ads and a link to enquiry form

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I would say #1 by far. Lots of people check names through mobile and when you have ads the for sale link sometimes gets lost in the confusion.

2) If buyer interested in name surely he will click "For Sale" Link to acquire.

In meantime normal users will click your ads, BTW you can earn too :)

IMO.

Depends on traffic. If the domain only received a handful of type ins a month or doesn't convert well, then send it to a contact form. If you can convert the traffic, why not generate some revenue until the right end user comes along...

Definitely #1
Did some testing last year which lead me to go 100% sales landers on all of my domains this year, rotating through some general non obtrusive ads to try to replace the lost parking income but honestly doesn't matter as always made more from sales than parking anyway. Could also sell ad spots direct as well.

unless you list the "same domain" on a parked page and on a for sale landing page....at the same time, then how would you know which delivered the inquiry first or the fastest?

and how would you redirect visitors to both, so that each would have "equal opportunity"?

is it about selling faster or making the highest roi possible?

imo....

@biggie - You could do this by adding both your parking and hosting to the domains DNS :)

You're going to get more casual inquiries with a custom landing page than an aftermarket parked page where users have to go through the hassle of signing up for an account, putting all types of information on file, etc.

Some people would request a price for curiosity/the hell of it and a registration process is just a barrier. Casual inquiries are opportunities to be converted into sales.

A lot of these parking companies really need to revamp their entire model. It's 2015 and there is not a single parking company that offers optimal customization for a parked page. It's long overdue and I don't know what some industry leaders are thinking by keeping the same boring, washed-up, generic pages for years.

For Sales landers always.. since switching over to DNS Sales Landers only (i didn't have many domains with lots of old traffic beforehand anyway) i get far more inquiries compared to the old sedo parking pages i used for the first 6-8 months.. boy, was i naive..

I think Sedo parking pages are best. They give you search engine exposure as well.

Option 1 in my opinion,
and if there are links and the contact form both on the landing page, that would be great.

@tomcarl - It's not the parking companies fault. It's what Google demands.
