Seems as though Coronavirus is trending.

Prior to coronavirus.info being mentioned here.
Coronavirusinfo.com wasn't regged. It is now! Not mine. Lol

There wasn't much.

Best recent reg has to be Coronavirus.org (it works!)

taken before in

.com
.net
.org (now)
.cn
And mine
Coronavirus.es
Coronavirus.eu
Coronavirus.us

I should have reg these but they are taken now.

.in
.co
.io

Wouldn't go too crazy. I'd do exact match only this one not Coronavirus+keyword.

I'd say any Asian country near China and it's extension should be good.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
IsnΒ΄t this what every domainer does in general?

It would be interesting to discuss the "matured domainer" who benchmarks domains by ethical standards. I fear that there will be not much left then. Adult, gambling; even financial terms arenΒ΄t innocent for some
.

You know my stance on this, nothing will change, I can promise you, it doesn't matter how many times I get tagged in the thread πŸ˜‰πŸ™„

No, not every domainer is out to make a quick buck, irrespective of what type of names they try and flip. Ive got no issues with gambling and adult names, the people in these industries have made a conscious choice to do what they are doing, there is a big difference πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

I see someone registered KobeBryantCrash.com today, is this seriously ok with people, its no different to the Corona virus names.

Good luck

Now the first case of 2019-nCoV in Germany is confirmed since last night.

I try to get the available information right together:
The person is a 33 year old male employee in the German headquarter of an automative supplier located in a suburb of my hometown Munich. The company has subsidiaries in China, e.g. in Wuhan. The infected person visited his workplace until yesterday.
Between Jan 19th and 23rd a Chinese female employee of the Shanghai affiliate had visited the headquarter for further training. Meanwhile the infection of this person has been confirmed, too. Probability is very high that she is the source of infection.

This is the first reported case of a human-to-human infection outside of Asia.

Very very bad idea! This is not what you should take profit from. Even if you own a .com or .org of main keywords, you should give away it to WHO or related non-profit organizations, to make it be helpful to community. No business here man!

I understand your position. However, making profits with disease related domains is not to strongly expect as members have argued.

The thread item is which domain to this virus did you register. So you could say it is immoral to follow your domainer instinct and register a virus related domain - or not. To me this would be kinda thought control.

The opportunity I notice with the spread of this virus is the shortage of surgical masks and other protective gear that has already occurred. If a true deadly pandemic were to happen the demand and price for this equipment would be through the roof. Anyone who has inventory would benefit greatly.

I personally think a more generalized name like the ones I registered have more value and use than domains including the term "coronavirus"...

FluEquip.com
PandemicGear.com

I'm sure there are a lot of other great ecomm/affiliate options out there too.

True. The biggest profits in the Californian Gold Rush were made by sellers of equipment not by gold diggers, right?

Today I bought some masks for outside. Not wearing them just to be prepared.

And I ordered Cistus tea. I remember doctors whispering about it during the short SARS epidemic. Best prevention until Vaccine will be available so they said then.

It was recently revealed (and is now actively discussed) in various alternative news sources, that Coronavirus is something that has a patent (U.S. goverment instituion patented it):

https://patents.google.com/patent/US7220852B1/en

So, trying to remain withing the natural limits of a domaining forum (no politics, no biological weapons theories. and even without personal preferences as to register or not to register illness-related stuff). We try not deal with trademarks (like realtor), service marks (like AT&T)... at least a serious domainer should not. Patented stuff is no better imo.

How cynical is this? Thanks for sharing anyway.

Though the linked text is very easy and fast to read for the serious domainer I ask myself if the Chinese government has to ask the patent owner for approval to fight the current virus. And if yes what consequences does it have not to ask?

Not to be a "d*ck" but because of certain repiles in here I feel the need to defend myself. When I really shouldn't.

That said last list I posted had only I think 49 domains registered containing keyword "Coronavirus"

Now there is 297 ( only 100 I could get for free below)

So either the other 248 domains registered were by registrants who aren't on NP or they are and are or have read this thread and either they choose not to admit it have registered Coronavirus domains.

We can extract from these regs that 248 people felt compelled to reg Coronavirus domains bad idea or not.

Will there be more? Maybe who knows?

Just stating fact here not implying anything by these mentioning these regs.

Come to think of it. Looks like most of these regs are strategic and done at the registry level.

Someone on the teams of registries felt they better secure this keyword. Why? Who knows? Probably for evil profit making intentions.

We should boycott these registries for even doing so.

Had I created a comical sarcastic thread labelled.

"oh boy Coronavirus is trending! Check out what domains were regged."

I believe the tones on this thread would be different.

Or maybe it's just that I AM the creator of this thread period. Lol

I don't know. (Shaking my head)

If anyone has the guts. Come here and thank me for giving you ideas on what to reg.

Help me out here because I'm just looking like a total d*ck here guys.

Meanwhile you guys are secretly and privately regging BuyN95.com.

No matter how you justify it. Regging n95 whatever at this point is profiting from Coronavirus.

Wow yeah CoronaVirus.com reg in 2003! It would be odd to own a calamity name domain before it was a thing, a teeny tiny part would be like "oh yeah, I got a hit, corona virus is growing!" although I'd of course wish it was not plaguing the world.

I once bought OilPlumes.com when it looked like giant plumes would flow around plaguing our oceans for years to come after the massive gulf spill, but they left the news within a week and I let it expire.

Coronavirus.it reg 2013

I can only imagine the "hate energy" being thrown at Chinese passengers on this boat by Italian passengers.

Back when 9/11 happened much hate in my area Nyc/NJ was thrown at Muslims. Many thought every Arab was a terrorists. Crazy.

In America, depending on an event certain races or nationality feels the "hate".

Whoever felt the past hate I believe (only my own opinion no way to confirm) breathes a sigh of relief that they no longer are the target of "American" hate.

After Korean war. Koreans felt it plus every Asian in USA.

After WW1, Japanese. Moved to camps.
Before and after Civil war. African slaves.
Muslims after 9/11
Even my people Filipinos when "Abu Sayef" was trending and they killed this missionaries in the Philippines.

I think most people have hate in their hearts. It's only when media pushes things with their triggering news to the boiling point and the hate comes to the surface.

I saw back after 9/11 and Arab owned businesses lost business from no Arab customers and had to rely on their own kind shopping.

And now I notice in my area. On buses and trains when someone See's Chinese they give them a wide birth.

Some look at me and try to figure out if I'm Chinese.

Lol I know what they are doing!

One time I even told a lady "I'm not chinese! Relax lady!"

But if a Chinese with a face max comes on the train guaranteed they give them a wide birth.

And NO ONE holds hand rails or poles on trains. Some fall to floor because of this when train makes a sudden jerk or hard move.

Side note. Just realized.

This Coronavirus could be a catalyst for Cryptocurrency.

Think about it. A disease the kills. You can get infected from touching droplets.

What's the one thing people "touch" almost daily" ?

Money. Think about it.

update. This past Tuesday I noted 297 domains were registered containing "Coronavirus".

Today? random check? 552 domain names

552-297= 255 extra new domains registered containing "Coronavirus". That's an extra 255 other unscrupulous bad people since just this past Tuesday I guess.

I'm a fair guy. They can't be all that bad.

One can come to a relative conclusion that it isn't such a crazy idea to register "coronavirus" domains at this point. Maybe they just don't want take a chance on losing out. Or whatever.

But I suspect the domains registered were by the actual registries. I did not check though. could be wrong.

So now we have unscrupulous registries!

Just info boys and girls.

It seems 2019-nCoV is a bit too technical for most people, and it's a placeholder name... MERS was also referred to as "Novel Corona Virus", since it emerged after SARS, so that would make this one "Novel Novel Corona Virus". :)

Most commonly used terms online seems to be just "corona virus" (and misspellings like "coronovirus" and "coronaovirus"), Wuhan Outbreak, Wuhan Pneumonia, Wuhan Flu, Wu Flu (short & catchy), and China Flu.

Even seen hilarious variants like "Winnie the Flu" (re. Xi Jinping and Winnie the Pooh) and "Kung Flu". Hardly marketable though.

wuflu DOT live was linked to me. I found it to be a great resource for keeping tabs on the soon-to-be pandemic.

I guess many will register all kinds of permutations of the official name that WHO is bound to decide within a few weeks.
