Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Excellent advice... JMHO, but at this point, it's time to put yourself on a VRdiet pending some successful sales... ;)

TeeVR sold for a great price and it can only be used for say the name of a Golf Game or a TV reference.

TeeVR.com = Third Eye Everywhere VR and is a Korean start-up and has nothing to do with golf.

While it's end use is still off the mark for what I thought it was going to be, I did not base any actions on it till I knew for sure. My advise to you would be the same. But I did learn a lot from this sale.

Agree.
@Avtar629 you can start with biometricVR, there are some news recently, you better check;)

really? will do. you actually remembered I had THAT domain? I'm flattered. ***blush****:-$:lookaround: lol Thanks. I completely forgot about that one because I did not see anything really going on as of yet.

I figured Biometric ( a tech that can detect stuff about your body's condition) would eventually be applied to VR.

that spells an oxymoron
considering most people plan to hold on to their domains for long time to maximize profit..
while being aware that there is still time for some market deals to be had now.. before prices do go up in future.

a challenging contradiction indeed hehhhheheeeeh

@alcy, your point is well taken... Indeed, many of us are planning on a "long hold" in order for the value of our domains to mature. This said, some folks who have regged hundreds of VR domains without any sales-to-date are going to be staring down the barrel of some nasty renewal fees... If they don't start selling some names to cover those fees, than at the very least, it's time for them to start exercising some "buying discipline"... (e.g. The first rule of life, "When you're in a hole, stop digging..." :)) Also, trying to sell some names helps a domainer validate his/her purchasing strategy -- If you have hundreds of names, and can't get a dozen $100-300 dollar sales (or at least offers...), then you need to seriously reassess your hand-reg and/or aftermarket purchase thesis... (As always, this is JMHO...)

for sure.. I guess we'll all take it year by year annd reevaluate porotfolios according to markets.. future values.. and vr domaining progress each year.. let's hope none of us did renew our VR domains for 5 years upfront lol aside from few exceptional vr domaisn which may be worth it.

and yes.. definitely make some sales to cover renewals.. other than this.. to each his own I guess... it's a very personal decision I suppose whether you wanna cash out early or take gamble and hold out for longer and for more money!

but I do agree.. the name of the game shoudl be.. do your best not to lose money on your VR investment.. renewals etc.. I was just pointing out that no one should be too hard on themselves first years for not making money and just kinda breaking even.. imo profits will come in few years.

cheers

It is not a big problem to make a loss one year or even two years. If you have the money to renewal the domains and you belief in them you can take this tax route:

Year 1 a 5k loss
Year 2 a 5k loss
---------------------
minus
-----------------------
Year 3 a big sale of 10k
-------------------------
0 profits but also no losses (pay no income tax)

Now if i am correct i can take the losses / investments of year 1 and year 2 and compensate / calculate this with the 10k sale of year 3. This way i am not accountable for income tax because under the line it is break even of investments and no profits. If you do not let this know to the tax man you will have to pay 30% up to 50% income tax over the 10k domain sale. In my country the netherlands they call this "carry forward" of losses / investments.

I am not a tax law expert and english is not my native language but if domainers are going to renewal VR domains for the next 5 years it might be a good idea to learn more about tax rules and let them be in your favor. In my country you can "carry forward" investments / expenses / losses up to 8 years...

How the Virtual Reality Company will use $23 million in fresh funding

Data from VBProfiles shows that Q1 2016 saw the largest amount of investments in the VR landscape in the last five quarters. Compared to the same period of time last year, the budding industry has seen four additional investments and almost $588M more in funding — an increase of over 120 percent. (Disclosure: VB Profiles is a cooperative effort between VentureBeat and Spoke Intelligence.)

Now, adding sizzle to the Q1 VR investment high, the Virtual Reality Company(VRC) announced that it raised nearly $23 million in a new round of investment made by Hengxin Mobile Business, a Beijing-based mobile services and technology provider, securing a platform for VRC for the distribution of its content in China.

The funds will be used for producing original virtual reality content and positioning VRC as the premier VR storyteller and industry leader. Current and upcoming projects include an “original family-oriented VR program” that’s being created with VRC advisor and shareholder Steven Spielberg.

I think we should all jack up our vr domain prices in a big way and hold firm ,

This way we send a message to buyers that this commodity isn't going to be given away cheap especially dot coms.

If we all do this we are starting to take control of the situation by establishing a baseline .

DONT SELL OUT CHEAP!

Ive seen way too many domains with lots of potential and value imo going for XX or xxx $
stop flipping for peanuts as u r just devaluing your other domains and ours as well

If a domain u have is listed at $1000 change it to $5000 or more

If its a premium category killer price it at $50,000+-

( note: the amounts are just arbitrary as an example)

if we all do this it sends the market a message bigtime that we are in control of the prices and we wont let them go for nothing!

Good news : About a Third of Valve's Staff is Working on VR :)

Virtual reality has clearly become a focus for Valve. Even before it announced the HTC Vive, it was running developer camps at its studio where developers from around the world were invited to come and try out virtual reality technology and learn about Valve's research in the field. Oculus has been open in the past about how helpful Valve was in sharing its research into VR and Michael Abrash, formerly of Valve, is now Oculus' chief scientist. Still, it may come as a surprise to learn just how much of the company is focused on the technology: according to one Valve employee, it's about a third.
