Hi,

What is the typical value or sales price of a 4L.com domain?
I'm looking at a LLLL.com domain right now in which I want, and the seller is talking sh:t. He's trying to condemn me in paying a high price, in which he's being stiff about.

The price he's asking is $3,500...this domain I want, but I don't want it that bad I don't think. It's not a pronouncable four letter .com either. It has two vowels and isn't a word...

What are 4-letter .com domains typically going for right now, and how can I go about offering him a lower price?

See this link for the largest collection of reported data on LLLL.com Sales. Past reported sales have been as low as $1.00 pre-buyout. Most LLLL.coms are going to sell for at least $5 and probably not more than a few hundred dollars unless they're pronounceable or otherwise have substantial enduser appeal.

There's been 59 reported sales above $3500 in 2009, 34 of which would easily be considered pronounceable. So with only 25 other sales being above $3500 out of 3400+ reported sales, I feel pretty confident suggesting even without knowing the domain that $3500 is overpriced.

Feel free to use any info from my post here if you think it will help knock some sense into him. I don't know how bad you need the domain but making him wait a week or two before responding and letting him know if he isn't willing to negotiate you will consider other options might make him think twice about playing hardball in this economy with an LLLL.com which by the sounds of what you've written probably isn't worth more than a few hundred on a good day in the reseller market.

Looks like the domain he's offering you is well overpriced.

PM me if you need help with negotiations and appraisal for the domain you're after...

Don't see what this has to do with the original subject but that's a dumb thing to do...

It depends what your plans are for the domain. As a reseller that price is far too high to pay unless the domain is amazing.

However, as an end user it comes down to supply and demand. If your company name is "HYUI Industries" and they hold the domain HYUI.com then the supply and demand goes in their favor. They have a domain which is one of a kind and you want it. They can set whatever price they want.

It depends on many factors!
In such cases, sometimes you can sue them and get it for Free! :]

Well, it isn't going to be free first of all. Even the cheapest UDRP filing fee is $1600 + legal fees. Not to mention they burden is on them to show.

1.) TM Infringement
2.) No Legit Reason to own the domain
3.) Bad Faith.

What is the structure of the domain? VCVC.com and CVCV.com seem to sell pretty well but the rest doesn't have a real base.

LLLL.coms are now worth about reg fee for all the obscure combinations that were changing hands 6 months ago for 80 bucks a pop. Too many people fell on to the bandwagon and are now stuck with worthless domains :)
