.mobi Updated weather.mobi site

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
just checked weather.mobi
well, we all know twc got the weather.mobi
also, they had 'weather.com' at the top of page on first day, right?
well they got rid of that & have done some work on site i'm pleased to say
however on site they're promoting their own twc.mobi?!
wonder if it's temporary? shall we flag up to mtld ?? its a bit naughty really as they are adding value to their own domain twc.mobi off the back of weather.mobi

weather.mobi

the point being, shouldn't it say 'weather.mobi' at the top? not twc.mobi
they won it through the rfp process after all, a bit cheeky i think & probably not within the rules

Either way, I'm glad they are promotting the .mobi.

I must be missing something here.

TWC own both twc.mobi and weather.mobi.

A bit naughty? D-:

Naughty and nice! I think they want to promote twc.mobi, I would too because it is shorter.

so they have to go through an rfp proces... to not actually promote the domain they applied for???!!!
get real guys, this is madness.
it would look sweeter too, if weather.com sat next to weather.mobi on their homepgae or something
also recognition for the surfer too, they would get the comparison, .mobi for mobile internet.
i for one will flag it up to mtld
anyone else apart from me get it?
geez!

I see where you are coming from arnie, but they have branded twc.mobi. Don't you think they should stick with this brand? I'm not a marketer, but I can't imagine that switching brands on the flip of coin is very cheap or prudent. You could end up confusing your customers.
As a consumer, I do like the sound of "weather.mobi" better than "twc.mobi" however.

They havent really branded anything yet. No customers even know about TWC.mobi except for domainers. They hadnt done any marketing at all for TWC.mobi since they were probably waiting to see if they won weather.mobi so hopefully they will change this. Either way they are promoting .mobi though. At least it doesnt say weather.com at the top. Weather.mobi is a million times better than twc.mobi even though it is a little bit longer. weather.mobi will probably get HUGE type in traffic and TWC would get almost none and weather.mobi wont really require branding but twc.mobi would. The RFP process probably requires them to promote the name they won so we will just have to see, if not then mTLD needs to do something about it.

Agree with you here 100%.

6/24/07 from the .MOBI blog: :gl:

We've also been finalizing the announcement of our first RFP name. As soon as we have sign off from all parties involved, we will share the news. We expect this in days, not weeks ... but, sorry, that's not a promise. (And I know -- from the outside -- this seems like it should be easy. It's not, trust me, it's not.)

I am unsure that the specific details have yet been released ... regarding whether (or not) this is the first official RFP? :imho:
More info from this thread (and great post from accentnepal regarding the RFP definition and process, as well IMHO)! :gl:

See you then.

I must be missing something. Why would anyone care if they have "weather.mobi" or "twc.mobi"? It's their name and they should use it the way they want to.

Also do any of you work for TWC? So you don't know their future plans for the name.

how come if you go to www.weather.mobi it says weather.com at the top but if you go to just weather.mobi it says twc.mobi at the top?

Typing weather.mobi takes users to a great, useful weather site with .mobi very visable in the banner for those who got there through a link. That's all I care about and am glad to see it.

It's better than a "site not found" error.

this is the continuity they need to sort out.
it needs to say 'weather.mobi' both times, or it makes the rfp process a joke
are you reading mtld & when are you gonna do your press release?
i'm losing a little patience with them i have to say.
they have quite a large staff, most of us work on our own. give me a team of 5 & i could do a better job all round.
make that 3

The whole purpose of having premium names is to make sure that those names get developed and promoted appropriately.
Arnie's point (I think) is that they can't decide not to use it when they already went through the RFP process.

I get Arnie's point, but I'm just glad to see the darn thing up and running (weather.mobi). What I keep looking for is weather.mobi being promoted on the weather channel on cable. They have a little "weather.com" banner across the bottom of the screen all the time, waiting for weather.mobi to appear. Talk about great exposure for .mobi!!!!!!!

Think of all the MILLIONS of weather channel viewers seeing "weather.mobi" on the screen and asking themselves "what's .mobi?". The rest is history....now that's what I'm talkin' about!
