After google decision is it worth investing in xyz extension? Will it's value increase?

I thought this thread died and then saw it is still active. I have FindCoupon.xyz and its plural.. I received $250 and $140 offers already for those.![]()
Taking a chance is never really a bad thing. Even I have taken a few.![]()
This is the exact hype that keeps people buying. Not only is FindCoupon.biz available, but there is no who-is record on findcoupon.xyz, which means you probably just bought it. Yep, a $250.00 offer, lol. It's these stories why people keep buying.
Just thought I would throw my two cents in. The new gTLDS have made it easier for individuals and businesses to get a domain name with exactly what they want LOTD. However, increasingly, folks are finding that what is ROTD is critically important in order for others to find them.
As for .xyz, I can tell you this. The team over at .xyz are doing everything they can to sell what they have. I even bought a few and got very lucky. I entered their contest for the best .xyz domain name...and won $1000. They paid immediately, and for that, I am grateful to .xyz. I even had the opportunity to meet the team, including Daniel, and spend a little time talking. They have big plans for the future, and it includes other gTLD's, outside of .xyz. Even their eggs are not in one basket.
However, as an investment, I have found that xyz is confusing and phonetically speaking, it is difficult to say.
I have also found, in my personal experience, that it is much easier to sell other extensions like .com, .net, .org, .co, .cc and others. Personally, I see no point in gTLD's for end-users. The jury is still out on the SEO factors.
In closing, let me share something that everyone here should know. What sells here in this forum is what people should be buying for the most part. Learn from the experience of others, read blogs like domaining.com and most of all....have a realistic plan when you buy a domain, .xyz or any. Quick flip, develop, hold. Whatever the case, don't look for reinforcement AFTER you bought a domain, look at trends and your plan BEFORE you buy a domain.
Just my two cents.
Regarless of the extension, a premium name is AlWAYS premium.
I'm not talking about single word or even 2 word super premium etc taken since the 90s, these are in a league of their own and would likely continue to be worth the same (or more) even if xyz or some other extension took over from .com.The scarcity of good .com domains is nothing new, in fact the best domains were already gone in 1996.
The new generation bias is only passed on from the old generation, besides, I never mentioned "biased" I specifically said "new generations do things differently" and "they won't mind using new TLDs over .com", even if .com retains it's higher value and exclusivity.the new generation is no less 'biased' than the older generation.
I'm not dreaming about anything, I'm talking about basic causality, which requires me to already be acknowledging the presentDreaming about the future is one thing, but we must also acknowledge the reality of the present.
There is a finite limit, it's mathematical not theory, but the entire point is there is most certainly a low limit of "decent" domains.in theory there is no limit to the number of domains in a given zone
Many single people/businesses own thousands of domain names, which goes towards making up for the ones who own none. It's a flawed argument, even in the West, few people own a domain name.
I agree, and never suggested otherwiseEspecially when the population increase is going to take place in areas where the Internet is less mature. For example, if you are thinking of Africa, most African ccTLDs are underutilized, with very modest registration counts in the thousands, or even in the hundreds.
Btw, Are we good on .infos? You know I bought some because of the hype you created and expect to make a lot of money :P
this is a common myth with new domainers Im afraid, you need to read through all the old "new" extension threads as well
You missed my entire point![]()
Likewiseok James, good luck, let me know how it goes
I couldn't get in on the ground floor but bought two juggernaut keywords for just over $1000. If xyz only gains parity with .net i'll x200 my investment. Just made sense to take a punt
I have no expectations whatsoever.
Wines - the plural kills this one, and then the extension makes it worse
Whiskey - not the correct the spelling (I know you are going to send me google or wiki links showing places where people have spelt it like that, its still not correct)
I honestly would not have rend-regged these names, and you will find most domainers wouldnt have either
@james haw....this is a common myth with new domainers Im afraid, you need to read through all the old "new" extension threads as well
Wow first off think before you speak. Whisky denotes Scottish brand and Whiskey like Jack Daniels "only the most popular in the world" denotes American made which is more popular then Whisky. Now you just learned something. Wine.com sold for $3.3M and wines.com sold for $2.9M ... A $400k difference ?! Lol. I didn't hand Reg these names. You can see what I paid for them at auction. I've invested tens of thousands in these names; not just XYZ but GTLDs as a whole... Please do you're research on Whiskey and Whisky ... And don't misinform people that it's wrong spelling. Lol, because it's not.
It's not a misspelling. Some countries use whisky and others whiskey. Man, the old whisky.com/whiskey.com thread comes to mind.
