All markets grow
I understand points you are making but I am referring to fact that look at the many other nTld's and the reg fee potential renewal costs yet people still role with them. As someone mentioned here most of them maybe just for certain industry or something along that path and .xyz is suppose to kind of like .com is now, right?

But then you look at .xyz it's much cheaper to hand register and renew even comparing to nTld's which (irrelevant to .com or other established extensions) it still has to compete with..

.xyz is so cheap and yet people still aren't picking up all the keyword domains, If I invested a lot of money in .xyz names I would've been very worried and would look to sell mine as soon as I can. Anyway that's just my opinion!

I don't have full information on all .xyz sales but according to this post

''The highest .xyz sale is deals.xyz so far for $8113, followed by three another 4 figure sales (cloud.xyz for $6600, customer.xyz for $1999 and ccc.xyz for $1210). There is no more public 4 figure sale for a .xyz and there is no 5 or 6 figure sale at all. The best one word .xyz domains are sold at auction by Namejet and despite of the intensive promotion, most of these names are sold for 2 figures or low 3 figures, which is a typical registration price of other nTLDs.''
Read more http://domain.tips/xyz/

Is not looking good, if you ask me..

Even if .xyz sales were to pick up don't you think there will be any new Tld's released to compete with already existing ones and especially with .xyz?

Ok, I understand what you say, but must also understand the time when the . xyz appears, xyz or any other extencion can not behave like .com, in other words if the .xyz was the first extension You would have a contrary opinion.

Therefore, say that the .com is the king forever It has no clear justification.

This thread inspired me to register Fanclub.XYZ :)

Not joking, really registered it. I did get some XYZ domains. I'm not sure where it's going but I think it might be worth a try. Big investments seem too risky to me in this moment though.

I picked up .XYZs after googl's news.
I will sell these domains when.XYZ passes 10 million reg.
I think .XYZ reaches 5 million reg in 2017 because chinese inflates .XYZ. and that is registered 30,000 per day.
In 2020 .XYZ passes 10 million.

I started selling domains in 2003 and I regged in here at the end of 2014 . Does that mean I am new in this domaining? I find it really amuzing when someone uses one's registration date in NP as a proof that they just started.

I always liked .com and even hated all other extensions but even though I dont have a lot of .xyz, I see a lot of movement with all the good names and numeric domains gone. Just last month I made a list of N7s that were very good. Every week some where taken and the registrants were ALL Chinese.

You can say this is a hype and it will die but those who managed to get good names like Alesandro would reap the benefits someday.

Do you think 6N.nets worth something? Check recent sales in Namebio and see. The extension dis not stop thw buyer.

It is the first time I saw something might actually try to challenge the .com .

Would Money.xyz or Sex.xyz or Insurance.xyz worth something? Wouldnt you reg them if you had the chance?

Regarless of the extension, a premium name is AlWAYS premium.

I thought this thread died and then saw it is still active. I have FindCoupon.xyz and its plural.. I received $250 and $140 offers already for those.:)

This is the exact hype that keeps people buying. Not only is FindCoupon.biz available, but there is no who-is record on findcoupon.xyz, which means you probably just bought it. Yep, a $250.00 offer, lol. It's these stories why people keep buying.

So you are saying .biz is good? I thought you only liked numeric .infos as the market was going to explode :P

So you say there is no Whois record for FindCoupon.xyz? Reallly? Did theu delete my domaaaain?:P

Come on man... I suggest you change the website you use to check Whois info.

I like when someone tells me they sont believe I received offer for on of my domains.

But it is OK. I will hire someone and publish screen shots of every offer I receive.

Btw, Are we good on .infos? You know I bought some because of the hype you created and expect to make a lot of money :P

I look at this as $.99 a domain to gamble. Four hands of blackjack lost in a row is $100. That is also 100 xyz domains. Out of 100 xyz domains, you all think doubling or tripling your money is not realistic?

Might as well "invest" in lottery tickets. You would have better odds.

Has anybody thought that they purposely chose the unfamiliar extension (abc.xyz). I believe they are saying - people, do not pay attention to 'Alphabet' or bother going to the website, just look out for our products. Imagine, how much hype Alphabet would have got and taken attention from its products/product websites if they had Alphabet.com site and had content more than a landing page. They have one of the strongest brands and it would be stupid to dilute those. Alphabet is not a brand and will never be a brand. It is just a holding company. It will be just a landing page site just like many companies have offices in Delaware or Ireland. You never call a Delaware or Ireland number. There is a reason why they just chose this particular name abc.xyz becuase it perfectly fits into 'what they are trying to say/convey'.

Think - what else they could have chosen, would it have conveyed the same (funky kind of) meaning?

So Google have decided to adopt the .xyz .business model for .domains
Either .it .works or .fails.

I have a suggestion that might help you. Although expensive $35 per year via GoDaddy ( well worth it for your business) I just checked for you and DigitalReach.io is available -this is a GREAT tech extension and being used by many startups now-Good Luck.

It's a good time to invest in .xyz.
I invested in 2 .xyz domains after Google's announcement:

Saw this recent sale

Negari.com
$1,800
NameJet

I'm surprised it even went for that much, even with the media build-up on it. It's really not that great of a name. I did find it funny that a potential end user is using an ngtld (.coffee).

Anyways, I'm probably one of the few who actually like .xyz. It doesn't mean anything, not specific to a niche, but it has an appeal to it. Of course I'd never actively invest in them. The only one I have/had is currently pending delete lol. There's better extensions to spend your money on.

.XYZ is one of the few new extensions worth investing in. Many reasons, but let me point to only one of them: the .XYZ registry is the only one with a coherent promotion strategy, not the least of which is their attractive pricing. This is long term, of course, that is with no expectation of substantial profit for years to come. It's no threat to .COM, to be sure. This said, Google has shown the way and others will follow: .XYZ is a viable alternative to a .COM address. I'm betting (see disclaimer below) this will catch on, albeit slowly.

Disclaimer: my portfolio includes 500+ .XYZ's and counting. Most of my domains are acquired with a specific project in mind and not a quick flip and sale. This said, I'm happy to sell if a good opportunity (read: motivated buyer) presents itself ;)

If you could please look into your crystal ball and let me now my future in the next 5 to 10 years I'd love to here that too.

As for you... you will have a happy and healthy life and will be come very wealthy beyond all of your dreams. But stay away from bats and cows as well, as they are bad luck for you.

Thats $200 for your fortune, you're welcome.

My point was that most people that are all about gTLDs are joined 2014-2015 and have not been exposed to development or domains for very long and don't care to do any research, but will gladly regurgitate the latest gTLD marketing campaign.

If gTLDs become widely popular and worth money, I will film myself eating a 3 month old bagel with wasabi and put it on youtube with the title "mad409 is my father (and I am a tiny baby)".

Everyone that is pro .xyz has a shiny new "Joined 2015" under their avatar. Now I'm not knocking opinions of new members, but to shrug off the opinions of people that have seen the trends and new extensions come and go is very foolish.

Sure, some of us have just joined this forum five minutes ago. This is by no means indicative of time spent domaining. I sold my first domain back in '99 or '00 for $8000. Truth be told, this was pretty much by accident. But this is what got me into the game. 15 years on, and with some 100 domain sales under my belt, I'm sharing my take on .XYZ's. Telling the bottom line, holding "sources and methods" secret for obvious reasons ;)

Interesting to see how many people in this "business" fail to grasp basic economic principles, which apply to so-called domaining same as in any brick and mortar business. Always assuming, that like me, you equate "domaining" with turning an outrageously huge profit (every so often) :)

Its been said about nearly every new extension that comes along, especially when a big company registers one

remember Google grabbed G.co, Twitter grabbed no_url_shorteners and Amazon grabbed A.co, people were saying this will be the next big extension and if Google and Amazon are using it, the others will follow..unfortunately it doesnt happen that way, why would a company suddenly change their domain when they have spent a lot of money marketing and branding their business on a certain extension

Companies dont follow just because Google or Apple do something, even Apple and Amazon dont change really, people will still amazon.com and Google.com, it doesnt matter what other extension they have

500 names is crazy, that is a lot of wasted money, imaging your renewal fees next years...if you really believe in an extension, grab 5-10 really strong keyword names and hold them

No I didnt, but it really makes no difference, companies are not interested in what Google do, they have 12,000 domains, do you see any hype with other extensions, no, because there isnt any....if Tesla went out and rebranded their company using an XYZ, that would at least mean more than 1 company liked the extension, but they wont, and Google wont rebrand their business on abc.xyz, Google.com will remain

domainers new to the industry started registering 100's of .CO name names when google got G.co..and that faded away like all new extensions.....all those names are available now as well.....and .CO is shorter and close to .COM, and actually had some meaning (Company, Community, Corporate etc)

What makes you think a strange extension like XYZ will be different

Stick to .COM..its tried and tested and its really all the world knows, besides cctld's of course.....just trying to save you those renewal fees next year
Thanks for the advice-we already own institutional quality names like eEcomomist.com among others but I understand your point-I just don't agree with it. ( and we can afford the renewal fees)
We've been doing this a very long time but you're correct-I remember when Rick Schwartz lost $200,000 on Flowers.mobi but we have no intention of paying those numbers for .xyz. That said your point is well taken and thank you.

p.s. If you can explain to me how we're going to lose $8 on Vehicles.xyz I'd really like to hear it.

If you think like a stock investor, .com is the Blue Chip Stocks and .xyz is the Penny stock. Penny stocks are very risky, but can have a great upside reward. I have some bucks to risk and started out in .xyz by winning an Ebay auction for a lot of 23 .xyz names for $5.50. I sold one on EBay one week later for $14.50 (demographics.xyz). Not a whole lot of money, but a 263% ROI, with 22 more names to liquidate.

I then looked around and saw there were some nice keywords and first names available still in .xyz, so I dropped a few hunderd and now own about 300 .xyz. Mainly for the flip...like penny stocks..get in and get out. I have no expectations of having a Candy.com type name, but it will provide a nice ROI overall for me.

Oh and whoever posted the snarky remark about those with 2015 NamePros memberships being the only ones to like .xyz, I have been investing in domains since 2004.
I saw that guys remark also re 2015. We were doing this when he was jumping out of school buses would be my guess in 2001. And thanks for the eEconomist.com tag-glad you noticed the name!
