After google decision is it worth investing in xyz extension? Will it's value increase?

vehicles.xyz is not bad. I can understand the little investment you are trying to embark upon. This business requires risk to some extent. At the same time gilescoley is not wrong for his advisory.
Cheers and good luck.
Actually-one of our names won the first .xyz challenge so we can hold Vehicles.xyz for about 98 years with the winnings. So I'm not sure there's too much risk.

I registered 600 .xyz names after the google news. I sold 4 names and almost covered my registration cost of the 600+ names. I can't expect this type of profit from any other new tlds or even from .com names or from any other business.

I registered .com names and kept with me for more than 10 years, and never received any queries for most of the names. I understood, no meaning to keep the names with me forever as I am not the end user. I dropped most of the names and started to register ngtld names. Now I think, I took good decision.

.com is King. No doubt. But how many companies can register a particular name? Only 1 company. But thousands of other companies in the world are doing the same business and waiting to drop the .com domain!. They should have to find other tlds like .net, org, .info...etc or new gtlds for their current use. Also they can use "comapny name + location + ownername+.. .com", as most of the companies use now.

For example, I own pharma.xyz. I searched for "pharma companies" in the world, found thousands, ten thousands companies....most of the companies with meaningless domain names. (sunlightandsoundpharma.com, evergreenmoneypharma.com?....). I am sure, pharma.xyz is far better than their current names. What do u think?

I never had interest on .gtld names before, after reading some forum posts/advise (especially from Mr. Chad. -Thank you Sir for your advise-), I started registering .gtld names from January 2015. I already got offers, but rejected and keeping the names for future. If I don't register .xyz names, who cares? Some other smart domainers will register the names and make money. I am not an end user. I just register and resell, there are lot of buyers for .xyz names. So, Why I have to stay away from .xyz? and blaming others after seeing they register names? I received 6 offers for my .xyz this week only thru dns, 2 of them are end users and we are negotiating with them. I can easily sell the names for $$$ but trying for more. Please note, my cost is only $1.88.

For me, .xyz is the best. Please advise me, if I am wrong.

If you rely on SEO alone, the domain name is not that important. But for branding, it becomes absolutely critical. Especially if you are going to advertise it.
Why couldn't you brand a company with xyz extension? I think this is the most common gripe that .com purists are talking about. In truth it will bring competition and lower the value of a .com of the same wording and thats what people hate. I have a ton of .coms and other extensions so im not biased just to any extension. But change is coming, its inevitable.
Then it's just another extension, nothing special. .ooo means nothing either, nor .desi or .onl.
Since when meaningless domains are the future ?
I did say "one of" the only extensions. And actually the word "desi" has meaning to India/Pakistan etc.
I do think .ooo is a nice extension. Though it reminds me of Halloween or something but it is easy to type and remember. However I still will repeat that XYZ does mean anything and thats why its my new go to extension.

We registered over 1000+ xyz domains on the day google aquired abc.xyz .. We even acquired the name of the owner of xyz.. negari.com .. Since google is backing the domain, it could potentially become the next trend setter. You never know, google could start ranking xyz domains at par with .com (and with more weightage than other extensions) .

Its no secret that Google is the driving force of the entire internet business. it has the power to create or destroy billion dollar businesses online. So a extension backed by Google sure needs to be taken seriously!

Hello,

I have no idea wether .XYZ will be a future "success story" or not, but it has some potential:

- The domains are cheap (regular price is about same as .COM)
- They skipped ridiculous high fees on premiums
- It has reached almost a million registrations in a year (NetSol is now "only" 15%)
- Negari is a true entrepreneur that have market it well and he will not give up easily
- The Chinese seems to like the extension

Well the following link speaks for itself who the winner might be!

https://ntldstats.com/tld

.xyz is currently leading the track on the new gtld. Speculation/Bubble/Market potential, whatever it is, xyz is steadily climbing up in market adoption right now.

Other examples of domains-in-action through social media and apps include Lady Gaga, who has a social media network on Place.xyz, and Apple, who just introduced its iPad Pro and Pencil while demoing the tablet app, UMake.xyz. We also featured the Tinder-meets-politics app, Voter.xyz, in a gen.xyz blog postearlier today.

And hacktv.xyz where facebook officially linked their live session by mark.

These indirect branding/marketing would see the rising of this extension and has a very good chance atleast for resellers. No matter who wins, finally as domaineers, we should see the future coming and thats where we will make our $ .

So to keep it simple, the chances of the common man knowing about xyz is lot more than any gtld because of its speculation and newsstories that keeps going up and offcourse also due to google's backing.

Sure, it was a public auction. Just key in WINES plus the thread extension. It was a by out..

Ok, I took a look at it and a few questions. Is that ebay auction software? I noticed ebay graphics on the site, power seller, buy now. Was looking for something for a site, didn't know if they had something available.

http://wines.xyz/

Did you get paid yet or just sold at this point? I noticed the winner or at least the same nickname is suspended at Flippa

Was a little confused at the setup. Says Current Bid -
Current Bid 2,500.00 US

But then closed at $7,500. Seller is a Power Seller with 0 Sales?

It would be the 2nd or 3rd biggest .xyz sale (reported)

87...all premium
I have a serious question... Are those actual "Premium" domains or domains that would be considered "premium" if they where in .COM?
I ask this because in my opinion, way too many people now a days are loosing sight of what constitutes a actual "premium" (category buster names like Computer, Sex, Car, Gas/Fuel, Work, Casino, Code, Home... etc) domain names for something second rate domain names (like Thesaurus, VacationHomes, PlayPoker, LearnToCode, FixComputers,... etc) which would be considered premium in .COM (and only .COM).

Just curious on what you consider premium. My master list of premium words pretty much all got bumped back for XYZ as a majority of these names where reserved by the registry.

My only xyz domain:

xyzat.com

Ha.... Comes with jokes... That is pretty funny. +1 for the like department.

Cheers

@ ChubbyDfat I have DRUGS .xyz which I'd consider premium. If I had buydrugs .xyz I personally would not consider that premium. I sometimes think the world premium is used loosely. JMO

I agree with you @mad409. There is a distinct difference between actual premium words and what is now considered "premium" by way of .COM.
Drugs (dot) com would be a category killer. I am sure we could all agree on that.
Now, buydrugs (dot) com would (by most) be considered a premium name.
By virtue of being a .COM it makes it a premium name because of the fact that the category killers where sold some 20+ years ago.

It is my belief that people are getting this confused. If you look around at some of the names that are being presented (not just XYZ but all the nTLDs) as "premium", you may start to see what I am seeing.
SUVcars
BigTable
PokerRoom
CardRatings
CasinoHouse
DiscountCoupons.... and the list can go on (several names chosen at random that people registered in different nTLDs).

I do believe that many people are making the mistake of mixing up what is considered premium in .COM and trying to apply that to nTLDs.
nTLDs is your chance to buy category killer domain names (the true premium domain names) but more often then not, the registry reserves these names for themselves.

With new TLDs coming out weekly... why would any settle for less then a tier 1 category killer premium keyword domain name is beyond me. **I know, people will make the argument that this extension is going to be the next .COM... but in all likelihood with the number of new TLDs coming out, there is not going to be another .COM but rather an equilibrium between many/all of the nTLDs and the gTLDs.

Just an opinion.

Cheers

I do not understand why there is such a conservative discourse about .com, far from the reality, future and the development and growth of technology.

there will be another .com ?..no, there will be better extensions and better opportunities than the .com

The domain business is changing, from a few to some thousands of investors, and perhaps, have a premium word now it is much more valuable, for the simple reason that is already known the power of good name to compete against companies that have monopolized many online services.

.com is not dead, and never die but nevertheless, gradually stop having leadership.

.Club Sounds ok but it can only be bound to so many things like Gay.Club, Fun.Club, RubandTug.club
Xyz covers all subjects in general because it has no meaning, Deos .com Mean anything i still have yet to find an answer to that one,

I personally would rather own Spend.xyz Than Spend.club
By the way .club and .space is on sale at name cheap and .tech is on sale to

One thing about ngtlds that gives me hope, especially .TOP .XYZ. and WANG are that the Chinese are betting on it, you can tell with the regs on these daily reglists, what they are registering, and it's not just numbered domains anymore or "spammers".

Like I said before, this is gonna be years in the making , maybe 5 years? I know it feels good to dream, but A LOT has to happen for those dreams to come true first. Hopefully it doesn't take as many years as you thought it would, it's not going to happen overnight that's for damn sure. I think right now the market is moving as fast as possible with new gtlds.

Here is a simple true, I very rarely invest even in .com so you or no one can say I am trying to sit on what I already got, at best I have (15 .com's)

All what you just wrote you still didn't explain why you think .xyz will be valuable in future, can I get answer from you know.. (as for me sitting on .com for years) I come from Latvia and been used only to CCtld's .LV or .co.uk most of the time since I been here) so .com isn't washed in my brain over years it just make sense, whehere .xyz

Before .xyz came out and someone would of asked me to broker, try to sell them to end users I am not going to lie I would be lost.. Please tell me where could I start in my pitch, why is it of any value at all?

Well you could start off by explaining
XYZ is a cheaper alternative in half the rate to COM for usage of Google Adsense ... Or you could start off by explaining SEO capabilities over GTLDs are more favored by Google and that includes XYZ ... Or you could start of by explaining .COM is old and outdated and that it only took 20 years to realize it... The best part of XYZ is it means nothing absolutely nothing !!! Lol. It can labeled to anything and everything !

Look I am one of those guys who genuinely wishes only the best to everybody, simple as! I truly hope you make it big time with these names I just don't see it..

Luckily I am not know for predicting the future, only getting odd thing right :D

So I'll stop there, I made my point some people will agree with me some won't.. Future will prove either side wrong, probably will be interesting to come back and read all this again, let's just hope no one who can't afford it is loosing any money..

Seriously, I can't waist any more time here was hoping for short discussion, I am back to making money and use it for good cause ;)
Again all the best to you all!

Facts.

1 )
Was easy in 1995 become a success domainer, I in particular, will find no merit there was only one extention. I wish some famous domain explain how an extension can supply the growth of the web when data say that in Janaury 2014 there are around 861,379,000 registered host names, which is an increase of around 350,000 compared to December 2013. However, the number of active websites recorded in January 2014 actually contracted by around 4 million to just over 180,000,000.

2 ) Everyone has complaints about xyz price vs Registration number vs spam, but ( Facts ) .com has more spam, Every business has a strategy, so for me it is a smart strategy that is taking effect.

3 ) You think the .xyz can not compete agains .com ? - Iphone vs Adroid , Cocacola vs Pepsi,

Perception ?

Bmw vs Toyota

I don't know why ppl are bashing the potential of xyz here.
If there is a new extension that has the biggest potential, it looks like it's going to be xyz.
Don't take my word for it, just look at the numbers.

You can't expect a 1 year old extension to be priced comparably to .com in the after market now.
I will be more than happy if .xyz can match .net or .org values in future.
As many have said, its a long term play.
