What’s surprising is that it seems to be basing its business on a .technology domain name. As the listener pointed out, DXC.com now forwards to DXC.technology.
So a $20 billion company is using DXC.technology, paid a big sum for DXC.com, and doesn’t own DXC.tech!
Now, the merger just went through so the company’s branding and domain choice might be in flux. But based on the logo (pictured) the company seems to be embracing .technology...

Ahh so clearly you have lost the plot.

Let me try break it down in simpler terms....

DXC owns DXC.com which they spend alot of money on and they redirect it to DXC.technology

Overstock.com redirect to O.co - they lost 61% revenue because 8 out of 13 people were typing o.com instead of o.co - this was in 2012 and most people had no clue .co even existed.

If you can not see how these two scenarios are HUGELY different then you are not playing with a full deck of cards or the lights are on and no one is home
So let me get this straight...Two companies using a non.com for branding? Thanks for making my very first statement clear.

But we can agree to disagree. No harm no foul

if you have a name like dxc technology and you are a 20 billion dollar company and your url is sjjwdd-e43433434.com you should not worry about not ranking well. It is a useless example for exact match, which has been greatly discounted by google since years ago.

Land is finite. the Internet is infinite, yet 99.9% of websites people visit daily happen to use .com

Try again

HAHAHAH so you are saying that non com's that have been around for 20 years less than .com's should have the same amount of developed sites on them?

FAIL - You try again.

after 3 years we have 1.5% of top 100k alexa sites using new Gs. How many years will it take to get to 15%?

in my opinion if the growth is so slow, 10 years from now most sites will not use them = aftermarket fail

Do you think people know .technology exists ? Myself, a domainer just happened to know its existence.

Alexa top 100k are sites that would generally be very mature, authority sites that dominate their respective niches.. so obviously aged .com sites and aged ccTD's would dominate the top 100k for some time... how long it will take until 15% are nGTLD's... who knows?...how long is a piece of string. Also, hardly accurate to compare 100k out of the 1 billion websites that are live

the 100k are the ones that get the traffic not the personal homepages that no one ever sees.

.net, .org around since early 90s, cctlds around since late 90s, .mobi, .tel, etc since mid 2000s...Non.coms have existed for over 3/4 the life of the internet

How much time do you guys need?

the keyword was "SEO hero" and the TLD .tech. So clearly the TLD had nothing to do with the ranking.
What are you saying? hahahahahaha :xf.grin: A nonsense...I understand that you are in trouble for talking like that.... hahahaha  I enjoy, tell me more...

Again, that's besides the point...Overstock lost traffic because people were typing in the O.com instead of O.co - Also lets be real... would you brand your business and make the MAIN PRIMARY site O.co if you didnt own O.com? - it's literally 1 letter difference..

In this example they are redirecting their DXC.com to a nTLD ... it's not the same scenario

Well if we are talking about .net and .org's then I surf lots of them daily.....maybe venture out a little more...past facebook/twitter/pornhub/ and you will see alot more .net / .org sites.

Dxc.technology
Dxctechnology.com

Uh oh!

I wonder how much traffic they'll lose to the .com.

You can not use the top 100k Alexa site as a benchmark for 1 billion websites. Yes they get the most traffic but that doesn;t mean the other billion sites are worthless.

it is not perfect but gives you a pretty good idea where the web traffic goes % wise.

When you go to that site it's blank and just an email address.. so it's a domain for sale... chances are they will acquire that as well.

They should have done the opposite by redirecting Dxc.technology to dxc.com. It is short and easy to type on mobile. Technology is a long word, how many can spell it correctly? Imo they should fire the guy in charge of marketing dept

Not really.....there are 1000's of niches and micro niches that won't even show up in Alexa top 100k but these are sites that getting good traffic as well.

You mean like snappa.com (originally snappa.io)? Customers who go to dxctechnology.com and see a blank page with [email protected] , they'll go like "what's going on? Blah blah blah" . That'll damage company's reputation, and trust
