It seems every good thread these days gets filled with .mobi/ .asia/ .IDN/ .TV/ .us, debates. So here's a thread we can have at it! We can also refer people here if things get heated.



I'll start with a neutral statement:

WTF is the point of .mobi?

Negative sig remarks are also 'really good' for the reputation of the NamePros forum!! Maybe you can get everybody in on writing negative sig remarks, and embed a good strong negative image of this forum and how domainers here now act, - like uncontrolled school kids on a open forum.

Talking about like or dislike of domain extensions does not indicate a persons character, but making personal insults towards a fellow human being does (domain extension = cloaked numerical IP address, GF = real person)

When people have to put derogatory comments towards other domainers investments in their sig, THEY are the one's making insult and personal attacks!!! It is immature and unprofessional. And if you think otherwise, why don't you petition the management here to let everyone here do it!! Expain how classy it looks! So look at the whole picture and who has been painting it, before you single out one person or side to critique!!

Thing is, no one called anyone a 'bad person'. And as it's only his/her opinion to whether it is or isn't a bad investment, and not based on fact, it's just an childish insult.

ATM, I agree that there is just a lot of opinions flying around (but I do see some facts to support the arguments from time to time... depending on how you perceive the facts). Some people may have reasons to believe to .mobi will not do well, while others may have reasons to believe that .mobi will be successful.

Time will tell...

You shouldn't take that crap in the sig personally. Yes it's immature, yes it's unprofessional but it's not a 'personal attack' as you state in your post.

Some companies use mobi, some don't. So what? In this case, .mobi wasn't even an option considering there are no LL.mobi's in circulation since they were held back per ICANN.

what facts do you have ... is it the new companies that started using .mobi recently, the climbing registrations or the new marketing that's been pointed out?

what are your clear facts? that some companies won't use .mobi - duh!
that some will use reditrects? - ohhhh no! (can't you people get it through your thick skulls that - what's marketed is what's important)
that google doesn't use it? well the others that aren't exactly chumps!

.mobi says "cool, CampRock have a NEW mobile site. I'll check it out!"

But then again I don't know anything about marketing and nether do Disney and Universal, etc.
