I would look at .mobi and its potential to make me happy in two ways:
1) if you guys realize it, it is not being extremely wealthy that will make us or most people happy. Just picture it in your mind: so the market realizes the value of .mobi overnight, and in a few months .mobi grows at an incredible pace. All the big, liquid rich domainers start to buy like crazy to us, pioneers, the best names for thousands or hundred of thousands. So then what? Yes, we could retire. But that won't make us happy.
However, being where you are today, seeing an opportunity that very few people still see, having that feeling of outsmarting others, feeling that you have something big in your hands, imagining the continuous return in your minimum investment...I think that having that feeling is already a great thing that .mobi is doing for us already. Don't you feel like this guys? Having that feeling that your future is "covered" is priceless, for me. Having that feeling that "it is just a matter of time" is really fulfilling. And if it doesn't happen...so what? At least we had that dream in the meantime...we fantasized...we imagined...we felt alive...we were really alive! And we learnt a lot in the meantime. Even if .mobi doesn't make it so big, having illusions is already something wonderful and valuable in itself. In a world that is turning ever more gray...at least we have an illusion. We are still fighting. A lot of people have given up already. We haven't.
2) as some of you mention, the feeling of helping others with our names is also good. I particularly have some names that plan to kind of "rent" for no money to whoever shows me that can use it better (it is a good name in the not-for-profit sector) Yes, I could make money working somehow around that name, but others could help others with it. So I'll leave it to them at no cost.
3) from a selfish and ego-oriented point of view, it is not soooo important, but I would really enjoy to see the face of some of the idiots that based on pure ignorance are despising .mobi today, when they realize what is going on. By that time, because .mobi kept the best names and we bought the rest, top names may well be gone. I acept differing viewpoints on the success of .mobi. But I hate to see some disinformed idiots that are talking about "the nail in .mobi coffin" and similar stuff without having done proper research, and on top of it, feeling they're very smart.
I see these idiots today as helping us to divert the attention away from .mobi. By undermining .mobi, they are helping us, you see?
We -small investors- need that time on our side until we have been able to make really good .mobi portfolios.
The worst thing that can happen to us is to have the big fishes using their 5000 names-a-day registering machines systems and staff working on .mobi. So wherever you guys see someone negging .mobi, I strongly suggest you to show that you agree with it, and encourage people away from .mobi in comments, forums and any other way you can.
When the big .mobi backers open the box and start with massive international marketing campaigns, everyone will know -and want!- .mobi overnight. We don't have to push .mobi ourselves, dont' worry...
At the stage we are in, the less competition we have, the better for us. So, if anyone asks me today "what do you think about .mobi?" I just answer "I dont' know much about it, don't know". If anyone says .mobi is crap, I say, "yeah, .com is really big, blah, blah" and divert the attention from .mobi as soon as I can. I just don't want them to see what I see yet. Get my drift? If you also do the same, if we all do the same, we can get bigger rewards. I prefer to be richer later and shut up my mouth today then to talk too much and point others to the treasure when it is still early and I haven't had the time to get to it the way I want yet.
