The Government of Montenegro recognized the potential worldwide appeal that .ME could have and decided it should be operated as a generic name space to gain the maximum benefit for Montenegro. The Government issued a public RFP in November 2007. The goal of the RFP was to find a Registration Agent that could operate an international registry, provide world class backend registry services, and provide the marketing and promotional muscle needed to make .ME a worldwide success. Ultimately, we believe they made an excellent choice!

The contract was awarded to doMEn, d.o.o., a Montenegro based joint venture (doing business as .ME Registry) whose partners are Afilias Limited, GoDaddy.com, Inc., and ME-net d.o.o.

Landrush will start June 6 till June 26, domain names with more than 2 applications will go into Auction.

Go Live on July 17.

i think should be the whois update ...
i try register co.me and com.me (is allow me to register by my registrar) but when i check with other registrar, all taken(just try for fun)...

30,000 applications is not a lot....i think it is because if it high price and 2 years reg. with multiple application, the actual names to be allocated will be lesser.

Sex.Me is premium, and it goes on auction in september, its not posible to apply for premium names right now...
During Sunrise perid there were 1.582 applications, 5 year minimum registration. Some world leader trademark buy domain Cisco, Yahoo, absolut.me (vodka, VSGroup), Gmail.me and Google.me, Microsoft.me Windows.me.

I always thought the premium list was a little odd, because obvious ones that a lot of us have requested, sure as hire.me and insure.me are not on there.

I'm still waiting for the auctions to start though. This is getting crazy - there has been no communication at all. What a bunch of jokers.

... the first name I pre-reg'd during landrush showed in my account as "pending" for some period of time then was removed.
...After some phone calls, I was informed that it had been allocated during sunrise ...
...The registrar's reps were unable to provide any whois info on the lucky registrant...

I can see the whois data now. It would appear to be a legitimate Sunrise application.

Still slightly pissed that it was "available" to register, but I'll chalk that up to poor implementation at some level rather than evil intent

I've got one domain backordered. I hope I get the name because the extension is cool for what I want it for.

Sue.me is rather unprofessional and would just put you off using them.

"June 26 to July 15: Quiet Period. During this time, the registry is closed to registrars. Names for which there was only one application during the Landrush Period are allocated. Landrush auctions will begin for names that received multiple applications."

So there's no point in registering a domain, even if it says it's available...?

I think their processing is really fast IMHO... compared to how the whole .asia rollout went. I can already see what I've got a few where I was the only applicant, so it's showing my name in the whois. The doors open to the public next week and the auctions will be taking place over the next couple weeks. It's the fastest rollout I've seen of any extension recently...

you mean you can see the whois data which you submitted the application in landrush period?

Yep - looks like they started allocating the "single applicant" domains a few hours ago... I can already see that I got 3 out of the 33 I submitted, and there will be no auction...

.ME Domains

Just thought I would start a .ME thread as I can't see any.

Now that the Landrush has been and gone, .ME domains are being handed out or auctioned depending on the amount of people registered.

I got an email today from Godaddy saying that I was rejected for one of my domains but did not explain why. I thought that anyone could register and if it wasn't one of the premium held names or trademarked.

Has anyone else tried to register a .ME domain during the Landrush ?
