Hi everyone! The 3D market appears to be exploding! Record takes at the box office by movies such as Avatar and Alice in Wonderland and the announcement this week of the new 3D TV which is set to hit markets shortly have helped buoy interest in 3D multimedia platforms. Even the major American television network NBC has jumped in and will be broadcasting the NCAA Final Four basketball games in 3D!

A direct beneficiary from this renewed interest and greatly improved 3D technology is the domain business. Some of you had foresight many years ago and reg'd great names early on. Others (myself included) have only become aquainted with 3D domaining more recently, but see the huge potential this market has opened up for domainers.

Let this be the place for you to show off your 3D domain names. Ask for opinions, marketing strategies or even an appraisal or guesstimation of value. Also, feel free to post any relevant news releases/articles related to the 3D industry.

Trademarks aside, think my best reg is

BLURAY3D.ORG

Bluray.org is worth around $30,000 plus. With regards to the trademarks, lots and lots of domains including the word 'bluray' have been sold so I cant see how mine would be different, As long as you promote the main Bluray site and ask for permission to use it then all you are doing is selling and promoting their product, Im sure any business would be ok with that, who owns bluray.net,bluray.org,bluray.biz,bluray.co.uk , bet every tom,dick and harry own them.

Yeah, aside from the TM issues, I think you will struggle to sell a .org in this niche, .org domains are generally for non-profit organisations. You could find a buyer, but I dont think they will paying big money for a .org name. It would more than likely be a domainer/reseller.

3DAMATEUR will give you the best return..all you need to do is wait on that one..once the cam sites/adult sites start using 3D. You will do well with that domain.

Lots of 3d products on sale now so I think I will put some affiliate links up on my 3d sites and sit back. Will see how long it takes to pay for their reg fees. Maybe next year we will have a clearer vision of the value of these names. For now, I would only consider sending them to auction for mid $xxx.

For those who have their "3D" Domain Names parked -- are you seeing any hits and actual clicks?

I've been getting some views (not much), but never really any clicks. So I am wondering if the traffic I am seeing is just from domainers checking availability (either in this thread or other forum threads).

Where do you have them parked?

I have mine at parked and they are doing pretty good actually. I switched to parked last month and saw a big improvement. Before that I was at sedo and they were not doing too good there.

The problem is, nobody will pay high price for such obvious TM, neither the company who owns it. They can get it for free (+ udrp costs).

However, I think u can sell this one for mid $$$, still nice roe.

as much as i like the concept of 3d, movie prices need to come down to really become the next standard. took my family (me, my wife, 3 and 5 year olds) to see Train your Dragon last night ... the regular movie was sold out, so i spent $50 to see the 3d version - good movie, but the 3d part wasn't worth the extra $17, really just looked like an extra high def HD - no real whoa moments. the other thing is they need to get to glasses free fast, because my kids, along with the others around us, kept taking their glasses off, so what was the point? i won't be spending that kind of money again until they are older or the movie is an absolute epic.

you're telling me that 20 of those aren't worth, at the least, $500 or do you not know enough to know that that WOULD be $5 figures?
you could easily tab the ten i listed as an easy $500 within this year.

I would be happy to sell to anyone, no-body has come knocking yet though! I will have to wait and see, fingers crossed!
