Yea exactly. But if you continue on with the rest the press release says something to thee effect that they are approaching developers yadda yadda.

See that part to me screams "open source" meaning they will allow some leeway to grow and expand on this concept of RMG.

See they've attached the word blockchain to this RMG concept and well when I think blockchain I can't help automatically thinking bitcoin. How is a bitcoin created or "mined"? From the processing of bitcoin transactions. World wide there are bitcoin miners using open source bitcoin software to mine bitcoin orders.

Is this how rmg's will be created?

Doubt it.

Since sounds like RMG will automatically be assigned a gold value.

So are we to assume that the RMG "mining" will be done CME GROUP "in house"?

If they are going to do everything "in house" why mention that they are approaching interested parties?

Bottom line? I think the opportunity to make money will be too great to pass up for royal mint.

They won't make money in a scenario where people buy $100 million dollars worth of rmg's and just sit on it for years. The money is in daily transactions. That's how PayPal did it. Just charge a cheap fee and now you have a huge case cow.

That's true.
Actually what I said earlier doesn't mean these RMG blockchain-based digital ownership "records" cannot be used on a larger scale. It can actually be transformed easily into digital gold tokens where you have the luxury to transfer them around to anyone in the world more like checks, but with gold title to them.

I think there has been something like this endeavor in the past but never gained the enough backup like we have now with Royal Mint jumping into the show.

It's a matter of time though to see what the trend of this RMG might lead to.

I give you an example. Few months back I got wind of ripple labs creators of XRP a crypto

I regged casinoripple.com

I told they I had it and see if they were interested they said no and that they don't see ripple ever being used for anything but banking

Then low and behold 6months later. A ripple casino did open up shop.

Sometimes people who come up with new products don't even realize it's true potential.

Someone else has to show it to them.

Indeed, I think even Royal Mint doesn't know for sure what that might lead to in the future. But if they had the right investors, this RMG could escalate to the bitcoin investors too, for they will probably see it as a rare chance to leverage and link the virtual blockchain system to something tangible and old like gold.

It could be the right time since bitcoin really suffered a lot in the beginning but succeeded thanks to the robust technology it's built on. Hopefully RMG or any product derived from that can also find broad applications that sets a real milestone in the digital world.

Right now all cryptos had alliances with certain gold mints and depositories of which if they refer them bitcoin clients to convert their BTC to AU (gold) they get a commission and tag that customer for life. Residual income.

Problem with that the current way. Is you have to convert your bitcoin to gold if that's what you want. Maybe you are scared bitcoin is going down so you panic and buy gold with it. Now you are talking about paying storage fees and other fees. Holding costs.

Rmg's eliminates all that.

The problem I see? Is if this takes off it will increase demand for gold.

What does that mean to the price of gold will it go up or down ? I'm no finance major. Can someone take over from here?

Yes remember that Royal Mint is a government controlled institution.
Governments want controls. If they're going to embrace the blockchain technology through their entire financial transaction system then they make sure it's within their rules. Bad thing I know. But believe me they know better.

Remember guys you didn't register these domains based on stats but gut instinct. That is one of the most powerful tools in domaining.

To my surprise I checked and saw lots of possible domain names registered in no real time (in three days span or less)!

What have you done to us baseballworld?! :xf.laugh:

From the start this is a 1Bn startup industry made up from nothing....From nothing I mean it's a completely new way of gold trading.
The value of gold that is going to be traded is 1Bn.
Is there any analyst or accountant here that could say what the potential value of outside services to this new industry could amount to?
prediction could be based on bitcoins model maybe? I cant find anything online about it.
I found this ...
Daily transactions of the numbers of BTC traded daily. Not the same :(
but hope it helps someone :)
http://www.coindesk.com/data/bitcoin-daily-transactions/
https://blockchain.info/charts/n-transactions
or this Its the only one I can find from reddit.
I dont know how to use reddit so there could be more. Thats from the main search page.

Well at the moment, I'm not sure we really understand the what and the how of the service. The first online trading platform for physical gold ( rather than paper gold) is in China I believe, and they move the physical gold around in a warehouse when it is sold. There are quite a few online trading platforms for gold, and it remains to be seen if RMG is significantly different. They aren't clear about their reserves, and I suspect they may be fractional, or based on paper gold. If they really have £1billion in gold, it would be good to know where it came from. If it is government owned, then what are they doing with the proceeds of the sale?

Lol just like how gut instinct tempted me to get nfcamerica.com and other NFC domains. Yea sure NFC " the technology that will replace the wallet"! That was before I found namepros. Lol. Not even a mention or showcase about NFC on NP! LOL

You bring up a question in my head about RMG .

So all of the gold of which this RMG is a "receipt" for will it be just for English gold? Or gold in other countries?

Eventually the RMG owners will want to liquidate their RMG to physical gold. What then? What if they live in China? And now they want their gold? But their RMG is only for royal mint gold.

Instead of risking robbery in transit I believe exchanging say gold from Royal mint to say China mint will become a trend if it's not already.

Or if you are in China simply exchange your rmg's for gold in China mint.

If THIS is possible then all bets are off. And I really can see this happening a China mint or Singapore mint holding rmg's in even exchange for their China gold.

There Are Now 293 Ounces Of Paper Gold For Every Ounce Of Physical As Comex Registered Gold Hits New Low

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-...ry-ounce-physical-comex-registered-gold-hits-

I suspect that the trump presidential win has caused this as gold investors who looked to gold as a safety raft are feeling much more confident about the future economy and are venturing out investing in stocks. Thinking his presidency will usher in increased stock speculation. with the idea that the country is now not going down the toilet.

But we shall see

It's nothing to do with Trump. It's the bankers and elitists who are manipulating the markets whilst they buy physical gold. China, Russia and others are buying physical gold as well.

Hey I talk about this RMG in chat room some. I will say gold is my passion! I got into domaining just to buy gold related domain names (they are 80% of my profile). One of my first posts here started the 'gold and silver showcase and discussion thread'. Also, I love blockchain. I like bitcoin too, but I like gold better. Most pundit can not figure how I liked both (gold and bitcoin BOTH can't be major currency)! The reason I like bitcoin is blockchain tech, the open ledger. Blockchain, compared to current transactions though banks and other 3rd-parties is night and day.

I have researched economies with a focus on gold my whole life, for almost 20 years since I was 14 years old...lol maybe that's weird? :) Also, I have been aware and study bitcoin since a long time too (below $3 price). Now you see, this is always of interest to me - I am not into this because some 'trend'. That said, I want to offer my opinion on this! Some here said some things I agree with too, but i will just re-say it myself. Basically, I see many asking questions like 'what is this', or 'why'.

I don't believe in USD or any paper money at all. I know it is a scam, and a genius one that has been planned for a long time in order to steal real assets! Dollar is an inflationary currency and will always lose value. It is based 100% on debt. As debt grows, more money has to be printed in order to service that higher debt. The federal reserve would like you to think they can balance all this and make it last forever, but they cannot. The large debts are actually the biggest problem. Most believe we debt is very high because of misuse. Yes, lots of misuse, but most importantly, this would happen no matter what! The inflation happens exponentially over time. All in history it just goes parabolic toward the end. Most recently you can see German mark, Zimbabwean, and Argentina (many more too). There is so much intricacies and tangents how this is all perverted too, but that could fill a book. Point is, there needs to be a solution, and before everything takes a major dump.

So there needs to be some gold standard. It's accepted and recognized worldwide. Of all the things, the population as a whole will accept this. It is good for the banks and governments too, because they have large amounts in their vaults! (compared to general population, probably you, basically have none...another reason might be in such denial of what I'm talking about here). When such hyperinflation happening people will beg for a legitimate solution to save them. Even though people have no gold, they will believe they can earn it, besides no one else they know has gold...so level playing field. Also, the gold blockchain is in place already (rather conveniently eh?), being traded on the major exchanges throughout the world! It's better than earning dollars that are worth less and less everyday. Anyways, you won't have a choice. It will be money by decree. It's not a bad thing though contrary, this needs to happen.

You know these governments / banks want 'power', and I will tell you, 'power' is mostly perceived! When gold is money, they will have the real thing in their vaults. Plebs like you and I will be transacting it digitally, practically never being able to get real thing. Not a big deal, this digital stuff is way more convenient anyway. The psychology of them having the real, physical stuff, will give the perception of power they need however. That is very important fact, and don't underestimate it. Besides this obvious reason there is another reason: The fear that they can stop backing this digital blockchain with their gold, effectively destroying our whole economy and probably throwing us into dark ages. It sounds crazy, but with capability to cause such damage so easily gives us fear, and again, that is more perceived power!

Am tired of writing now. Most u think I lost my tinfoil hat:) time well tell, eh? It just makes perfect sense this happens. The blockchain is such good tech. This money can be transferred instantly, publicly and inherently safely. There will be no more hiding from taxes, etc. There is every reason for this to happen. To me, the pieces make so much a clear picture I am in awe that anyone can think otherwise! Digital gold will be the future money! If it is called RMG or not, I have no clue.
