Big data = Big bucks
The term big data is now here to stay as with the cloud, it seems repackaging can work wonders!
Unlike other buzzwords like “agile”and “SOA” in the software industry, Big data has already proven to be a keeper!
It is not going to go anytime soon it is a multi billion dollar industry, Big data is officialy the hottest thing since sliced bread.
What Big data Domain names do you own?

I reg'd BigDataSeattle, BigDataAtWork, and DataMainstream using the latest GD .99 discount code LKSRTL99X. I think there are a few other choice big data cities/geo that may be good in addition to Seattle, but I'm drawing the line there. In the spirit of holiday giving, (for better or worse) here are some other places I researched where tech/big data are said to be hot (all might not be available for reg):
DC, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Baltimore, Jacksonville, Boston, New York, LA, Chicago, Austin, Boulder, Denver, St Louis, Toronto.

Some other names that I decided against in case others see more value than I do:
AIBigData.com, BDCloudApp.com, BDCloudApps.com, BigBizData.com, BigDataAnalyzation.com, BigDataArchaeology.com, BigDataAugmentation.com, BigDataBacklash.com, BigDatable.com, BigDataCharting.com, BigDataCleansing.com, BigDataconomy.com, BigDataCorrection.com, BigDataCracker.com, BigDataDetection.com, BigDataDredging.com, BigDataEdge.com, BigDataErrorCorrection.com, BigDataEvaluation.com, BigDataExtraction.com, BigDataFindings.com, BigDataFish.com, BigDataForBeginners.com, BigDataGenerator.com, BigDataGenetics.com, BigDataGuard.com, BigDataHarvesting.com, BigDataImagery.com, BigDataImport.com, BigDataIndexing.com, BigDataInspection.com, Bigdatainternational.com, BigDataInterpretation.com, BigDataKnowledgeDiscovery.com, BigDatal.com, BigDataLight.com, BigDataLinx.com, BigDataMadeVisible.com, BigDataMerge.com, BigDataMerging.com, BigDataModification.com, BigDataMoment.com, BigDataPackages.com, BigDataPass.com, BigDataPersonified.com, BigDataPreparation.com, BigDataPreprocessing.com, BigDataQualityManagement.com, BigDataRDBMS.com, BigDataReplication.com, BigDataRevealed.com, BigDataRevenue.com, BigDataRich.com, BigDataScrub.com, BigDataScrubbing.com, BigDataSelection.com, BigDataSite.com, BigDataSmaller.com, BigDataSmallPond.com, BigDataSweep.com, BigDataSynergy.com, BigDataTamer.com, BigDataTechnicians.com, BigDataTranslation.com, BigDataTrove.com, BigDataTrust.com, BigDataUsage.com, BigDataVac.com, BigDataValidation.com, BigDatavert.com, BigDataVise.com, BigDataWash.com, BigDataWashing.com, BigDataWell.com, BigdBase.com, BigITData.com, ConsumerBigData.com, GeneticBigData.com, HadoopDevelopmentTools.com, HadTools.com, InsuranceBigData.com, LinkBigData.com, MakeBigDataSmaller.com, NetworkBigData.com, ParseBigData.com, RapidBigData.com, SeeBigData.com, SeeingBigData.com, ShrinkBigData.com, TrustBigData.com, UltraBigData.com.

I would only take - BigDataSite.com from that list but it was taken 4 months ago.

The difference between a drop and a never before registered domain, is that at least one person has previously found value in the former
The drops are a source of inspiration, because you can capitalize on other people's ideas. For example, you can try variations of the domain names. Sometimes the exercise is more interesting than just snagging what you see

Yeah maybe, but I also find a lot of the names were registered by newbies and then dropped and then the realised 3 years later that they couldnt find anyone who wanted the name and they had just wasted $30 renewing it for the last 3 years...

I see you point though, you find nice names dropping as well, but there is also tons and tons of rubbish

ProjectBigData in dot com, net, org. There are a lot of these collaborations and open data projects coming about in the public and private sector.

And, picked up BusinessDataAnalytics.com.

Considering all this talk I've seen about big data creating 4 million jobs in the next year or whatever, and the shortage of data scientists, someone might want to take a $170 gamble on bigdata.jobs which is free as of this post.
I don't know what the rules are regarding that extension, but if you're into developing, might be worth a punt.

congrats to FX

..and it's worth noting once again how selling names are different in quality to those insane field regs this thread is full of.

i'm pretty sure FX could (and is in fact doing that according to his frequent reports) sell into any niche with equal success be it Big Data / Cloud / 3D or just ol'good plain Insurance / Automotive / Dieting / etc.. it's not about how hot the niche is but about how good the domains are

thanks FX again and please keep your sale reports coming - those are the best domaining lessons we could ever learn. i feel like i'm getting smarter with every sale reported ..well, still miles behind bigdata guys - i dont own any bigdata names :)

*good luck to all

FX has already mentioned twice DataCentral.co.uk was NOT his domain and that he was just reporting the sale.

Is anyone developing any Big Data names?

Took advantage of another godaddy 2.95 discount code and reg'd the dot com of BDAnalyst along with the dot info of BigDataAnalyst. The choices have certainly thinned out since early November, which means that end users (if there are any) will need to look to the afternmarket for their eventual needs.
