Dear all,

I'm a newbie. I bought domain: WiredApp.com last month below $20 from Godaddy Closeout.

Now, I receive an offer from an US guy over my parking site (he also sent me a email to my email registrant) with $100.

" ... Since I am working on a project, I am interested in acquiring the domain. Would this be at all possible? Please let me know; I look forward to hearing from you. "

Please let me an advice!

Thank you!

Counter for $50k and then sit back and deny offers until you are very happy with the sale.

Ask for more but also be mindful there are one word trademarks for 'wired' so don't go too crazy on your price. Just my opinion Goodluck

What in the world does wired app mean? The only thing that comes up is an app for Wired magazine. Other than that, what would you use if for?

This is reply of him after I request $3500:

"Thanks for the clarification. That amount rather large, I will have to see if I can pay that. I will get back to you shortly, as soon as I find out. "

Well I can pretty much predict the outcome from here. They will either accept or counter with an amount close to that around $2,000 or $2,500.

Right now they don't want to seem to 'anxious' to accept your offer in case you decide to bail on the deal entirely.

A few days or weeks might pass, if you want that $3500 just stick to your guns; silence is your best bartering chip right now.

Good luck.

Wired magazine just updated it's app on November 14 which was only one week ago. I would bet this is your buyer so I agree with DomainVP and stick to your guns at $3,500.

You got a response from him which is one positive. You know he received your email and read it, now you just sit back and see what they come back with.

Seems they are interested and will come up with a counter offer in my opinion...

Ill be honest the only domains I don't go for a count offer with are TM risk domains. Only because you never know if that company that holds the TM is the one offering. Last TM sale domain I had was $200 from the company holding the TM. Good thing I gladly accepted instead of them taking it from me and getting $0. Biut in your case I would counter offer. What can it hurt. I mean if they are serious about buying they will contact you back with a response.

I have to disagree with you on that one.

First let me say that I typically don't register names with a TM on them unless its a generic name with multiple uses that can be used in commerce outside of the declared TM uses.

UDRP costs a minimum of $1500 for a 1 person panel; I believe $4500 for a 3 person panel. Including legal fees that I'm sure could add up to an additional $5k.

If a TM owner wants a name and they want to guarantee that they get it, typically they will be willing to pay within that $1500 to $5000 amount. Outside of that they may want to file a UDRP and take their chance with a panel. Remember if they lose then the name could cost them 10x that amount if they really want it.

Negotiating for low to mid four figures is something that is typically in their best interest.

So far in the past I have only had 1 out of 15 offer the cash to me instead. But then again this is a hobby for me with my pocket change on paydays so I don't really push it super hard.

Do you run the car from your pocket change or your domain profits?

I have a regular full time job pays for my cars and stuff. The domain profits are mostly from parked domains at bodis really. Nothings changed from the first day i came to namepros years ago except raises as i moved up in the offline job and parking thousands of domains more really.

Kind of odd I run a plasma cutter for my regular full time job. This has always been a hobby for me that with tips from smurge and others here over the years with trial and error makes me extra cash as well monthly.

You should diversify further than Bodis. I think you would do better at Parking Crew or Voodoo. If you have the time. If not, there is always Above.com. They certainly do maximize your returns between several parking companies. It's easy to apply and setup. I'm not affiliated with them.

To be honest WiredApp.com is worth way more then $3.500 you should try a higher number then that. My advice is to try something like 7000-8000 despite what other sites say your domain is worth. Those are just estimates and a domain is always worth as much someone is disposed to pay, keep in mind that to.

I'd only add to the good advice here by offering that you should always know who your dealing with. This might be a domainer who has interest from an enduser. Find that enduser (Wired Press releases, TechCrunch, LinkedIn...)

I would try to get wider interest. An hour on Google you'll find companies like this, with a name relevant offering: wiredcontact.com/Docs/PR/AboutWiredContactCRM.pdf

whose interest you might be able to pique.

Best of luck!

It's a nice name for an app. Could sell it for low $x,xxx-it has that potential. But at the same time, you need to consider $xxx as well, because it could mean a quick sale (one month), and you can buy other domains now.

Counter with $1,500. And negotiate from there. It's a good learning experience.

excellent advice.. can't add more :)
