Dear all,

I'm a newbie. I bought domain: WiredApp.com last month below $20 from Godaddy Closeout.

Now, I receive an offer from an US guy over my parking site (he also sent me a email to my email registrant) with $100.

" ... Since I am working on a project, I am interested in acquiring the domain. Would this be at all possible? Please let me know; I look forward to hearing from you. "

Please let me an advice!

Thank you!

Are you happy with $100?

If not, then counter with a price in the region that you would like to sell it at.

The $100 is his initial offer, and from the wording, he is expecting to hear something about you willing to sell to him. I guess he would also expect to hear something about price as well. $100 is not the price, that's his offer.

It's a nice name for an app. Could sell it for low $x,xxx-it has that potential. But at the same time, you need to consider $xxx as well, because it could mean a quick sale (one month), and you can buy other domains now.

Counter with $1,500. And negotiate from there. It's a good learning experience.

Edit the domain from your post... he can easily find this thread.

Do exactly what NS told you.

I think you can get high $xxx for it, but still try with an $x,xxx counter. Did you get the email from the guy who contacted you? Be sure to google his name and email. If it is someone from Wired(.)com then you might get even more for it..

Knowing who you are dealing with can help you a lot!

Good advice, definitely follow it.

$100 is too low for it. If he creates an app and sells is for $2, he would get his investment back after JUST 50 downloads.

Point is, its tough to sell even 10 copies of your APP in today's competitive world and market.

OP, you have to be really sure of the price your buyer can pay while respodning to such inquiries. Speaking from an experience, quote 15%-20% high than what you think is reasonable price given you'd sell the domain name.

15%-20% markup will give you an edge during negotiations and you will be satisfied at the end of the sale.

Good luck!

Really? Yes, there is a lot of competition, but you can also get much exposure really fast and selling 10 copies at $1,99 is a breeze.. If you can't do that then better not even go down this road in my opinion..

lol you sure about that claim? Have you ever gone down this lane? Lets see how well have you been able to do it.

I dont claim jack until and unless I have data to prove and experience to back my claims.. refer my iOS app: www.prettypinkunicornprincess.com

I agree this name is easily worth more than $100. If you regged it, your sentiment for this name is worth more than $100.

Me no, but I have a few friends with very successful apps. I think one of them hit over 500,000 downloads with one of them last week.

Anyways, let's not derail the thread.. The name is worth more then $100 so counter in any case OP.

Be kind and polite. Appreciate his offer, counter with high $xxx or low $1,xxx .

Just to say, the domain worths more than $100. However this negotiation strategy could let the buyer go as well as drastically increase his offer.

If you WANT to be sure to receive some money for this domain, or you just need it, make a slightly higher counteroffer. He offers $100, you ask for $400. Then you're going to agree to $250-300 most likely. High chances he wouldn't go away, but basically giving him almost a bargain.

It's up to you. I'd counter with $1,000 or something.

Oh, by the way, i suggest you to hide the domain in some way, in order to avoid the buyer googles it and find this thread.

Bud, I am not saying things dont sell.. All I am saying is that its tough to sell just anything when there are hundred thousand plus apps lying around in the appstore & android store!

Yeah lets just stick to the topic.. You go OP, sell it for whatever you think will satisfy you.

Good luck!

Sure, it might be worth more than $100 to some people here.. At the same time, you don't see those people throwing out offers to you. It comes down to how badly you need the money or want to sell the domain. By the sound of it, you don't know much about searching and contacting end users. So, I would say either you accept the $100 offer, counter with him, or be prepared to hold it for a while until maybe someone else comes in and makes an offer.

If you need the money then just accept it and move on. If you don't need the money then counter with what you would actually want for it and who cares if he says no. In the event that he does say no, then it just stays parked and hopefully someone else comes in and makes you an offer for it.

I think the name is actually a really cool name. It could be used for multiple different apps, imho. I agree that his first offer is only an opening offer. You should have your opening offer as well. I think that should be in the low $xxxx range as well. If you are a tad scared you might frighten him off with that price, then I would state that you are willing to negotiate. But I normally don't employ that tactic. I gamble that if he wants the domain, he will counter. And it seems like he wants the domain because he has contacted you thru 2 different venues, if I understand you correctly.

IF you sell for $200-$400 you will regret it(unless you are desperate for that cash). mark my words. this is a nice 2 word .com. it is easily worth $500-$2000.

Seems like all the domainers again jump in and say do not sell unless you get xxxx or more.
Counter at 1500 bucks and see if he jumps or says adios.

I`m in line with most here, this is a name with a potential xxxx value - My only concern is that there is many tradmarks for the term wired - I`m not a expert but it can hurt the value
