Some advice please

Hello,

As a newbie into domain name "thing" I would be grateful I you guys could help me out with my little question, how good must the domain be so you can build a whole project just for the domain name? What I am trying to say is that I don't have any special idea about a project, that's way I want to find a relative good domain and build something upon it...

Would it work? I cant spend more than 2 000 USD for the domain, can I get a good domain with this amount of money?

my simple advice would be to read, read, read and do more research....money can be easily spent but to recoup it would be a problem, unless you have a very unique idea, there is a possibility that someone else is already running your business model...not being negative here, just trying to save you money, do research and read and you'll soon pick things up....

You can develop a site around any domain. It would be best to have an idea of what you are looking to develop & then go looking for the domain. Make it about something that you enjoy, that way it will be less like work. The more passionate/interested in the subject matter the more enjoyment you will have with the entire process.

Tjena! klart man kan få en bra domän för 2k... ! Men sen kan man göra en framgångsrik sida på i princip vilken domän som helst! Försök komma på vad det är för sorts sida du vill utveckla och välj/köp en passande domän efter det!

Ya, like they said, READ READ READ! Don't go and do anything drastic, you want to be informed about what you are going to do. And best, if possible, is find a partner to do this with, somebody you trust and who may have already done this. You will find it will be more interesting and easy.

$2k is a huge budget to me, but to others it may be pretty small. I agree that you can make a good site even around a poor quality name. Since you are looking to develope a site I would focus first on the site and leave the domain for later. If you could spend $1,800 on site development and only $200 (or less) on a domain, I think you would have better luck than spending $1,800 on a domain and $200 (or more) on a site.

With that much to spend you may be able to find someone selling a site that is already established that you could just take over. You really do need to be careful no matter what you buy.
