SEDO To Park or Not to Park As They Block Out Your Domain For Sale & Pricing Question

I just signed up for SEDO today as I wasn't happy with Flippa at all (maybe I expected too much) but was kind of shocked when I saw a full Page Ad on Cars and OfficeDepot on my BuyColoradoPot.com domain which interestingly enough got 3 clicks in no time flat but unlike Adsense doesn't report the earnings right away- at least that's what SEDO said when I called. I was under the impression that there would be a "this site for sale" linked on the parked page but apparently they run these full page ads most of the time when you do parking that doesn't say that. The person I spoke with said if my goal is to sell my domain names as soon as possible then I am best turning the parking off & they will put a For Sale Page on instead. He said I would have to do this for all my domains instead of leaving some parking on for Domains like BuyColoradoPot. Do you agree with his advice? As a result I've turned Parking Off.

My second question concerning Sedo is, do you recommend using the suggested domain sales prices SEDO recommends you use on their listings? In one case somehow SEDO said Sciences.es should be listed at more than $10,000 and recommended that anything they say is greater than $10,000 should be appraised. It wasn't that they thought it was Sciences.com which I don't have as they do give different prices for domains that aren't coms. I listed it for $8,000. Valuate on the other hand gave it $2,700 which is quite a difference.

Thanks a lot for any advice.

When will everybody learn that automated valuations aren't worth shilte. Including Sedo and Valuate.

As for parking not showing a for sale link, I thought that was one of the advantages for using Sedo, that they showed that link.

Sedo parking is also shilte! You should park with Voodoo and put you domain for sale at Sedo, Afternic and GoDaddy.

I recommend not using SEDO to sell your domain. Instead, I recommend that YOU sell your domain. You can post a full-page landing page as easily as they can. Selling a domain isn't rocket science. Just don't infringe on anyone's trademark.

And I forgot to mention that if you participate at Flippa as a Seller, then I believe you are part of the problem. As far as I know, Flippa whole-heartedly allows employees to bid against outside customers, as long as the Seller is aware of that fact. Here, read this then tell us how Sedo sucks: http://www.hybriddomainer.com/2012/11/quick-chat-with-david-slutzkin-ceo-flippa.html Read question and answer #6 in that interview, it's very disturbing.

If you are the Seller in a Flippa transaction, then you are part of the problem in this very shady industry.

Good luck to you.

I think my answers to your questions will be a long list of NO NO NO NO..

I don't like Sedo as a marketplace, I don't like their support, I wouldn't suggest to park your names there etc etc

I wouldn't compare it with Flippa as pretty much everything is better than Flippa..and because Sedo and Flippa are two different things even though both disappointing and mediocre.

Is it correct that with Sedo parking you can't switch off the full page ads? I understand that they earn me more sometimes, and that it is automated to make me more money... But I only want landing pages that also mention the domain is for sale.

They have different templates but only a few of them are sale-oriented meaning that they clearly and boldly show your domain is for sale.

Some pros found Afternic to be better under that perspective.

What I personally can suggest is to try with DNS where you have 3 options to choose among : parking only; parking + sale; sale only.

I am sure someone can tell you about Voodoo, Bodis,Parking Crew but I can't as I have never used them. Good luck!

I tried Sedo out for a few months, with the intention of selling domains/parking them. The parking earnings were tiny. The landing pages all took visitors to weird places like timesofindia websites, and did not inform people that the sites were for sale. I then proceeded to unpark all the domains and tried a new parking company. So far the results are 3-4 times better in 1st month, then the results I had over a 3-4month period with sedo.

I think alot of people believe that Sedo has an immaculate reputation as they are one of the most successfully advertised domain sellers. But what I read on the boards and what I see here is that they dont really do anything more then any of the other domain sellers. Like the guy above said if you want to sell your domain sell it yourself- for some of us thats easier said then done we dont have the experience, time or the high quality domains that will sell quickly. So we gotta grind on, work hard at sales, and don't waste time on domains that hold little to no value.

I experimented with godaddy auctions 7 day sales for two weeks which was discouraging. The reality I have come to see with domain sales is you have to work at it all the time, and make sure you have realistic prices. All the prices sedo values your domain at, or the valueator program are usually inaccurate. At the same time the value of your domain is what the buyer values it to be.
